Ideal for close-up subjects, the Canon EF-mount Tokina atx-i 100mm f/2.8 FF Macro is a short telephoto macro lens, offering a life-size, 1:1 maximum magnification along with an 11.8" minimum focusing distance. This lens uses a flat-field optical design to yield realistic rendering, void of field curvature, as well as high sharpness and clarity throughout the focusing range. A multilayered coating has also been applied to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and improved color fidelity. Complementing the optics, this lens features a One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism for fast changing between AF and MF settings, and a focus range limiter switch helps to achieve faster focusing performance at close-up distances.

In manual focus mode, how long is the focus throw? Does it offer finer adjustments easily in manual mode?
Asked by: Arsalan
It depends if the focus range on the Tokina atx-i 100mm f/2.8 FF Macro Lens for Canon EF is set up on Full or Limit. Under Limit, the manual focus throw is approximately 90 degrees. If the focus range switch is set up at Full then the focus throw is approximately 270°. The Focus ring is very smooth and you will be able to fine-tune your manual focus.

Is this lens better for my Canon EOS 5D Mark III, or should I get the Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM Lens?
Asked by: Mo
The EF-S 35mm is not a great choice here because it is a crop-sensor lens, and the 5D Mk III is a full-frame camera. In that aspect, the atx-i 100mm macro is a significantly better choice. As to what focal length would best suit your macro photography needs, it would depend on the subject you are photographing and your desired magnification/composition. Apart from this superb lens, other potential options include the Canon L-series EF 100mm macro and the Sigma EF 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art.
