This limited-edition version of the 45° angled-viewing Kowa TSN-883 25-60x88 PROMINAR Special Edition Spotting Scope is one of only 150 units shipping to the USA in celebration of their 125th anniversary. This edition comes in a smart and refined black color instead of the signature green, and with a custom matching black neoprene case. Besides the cosmetic changes made for the anniversary edition, Kowa includes a powerful eyepiece that is usually sold separately and kept the entire optical system and features exactly the same as their regular model TSN-883, so you can be sure you'll get the same impeccable performance.

At 13.5 inches long, this spotter is the ideal companion wherever you go to glass. It employs the ultra-low dispersion PROMINAR fluoride glass that eliminates chromatic aberrations that, when coupled with the fully multi-coated optics and two-speed focusing mechanism, produce bright and clear tack-sharp, high-contrast images with accurate color rendition for an immersive observational experience. The impressive 25-60x zoom range allows you to take in a wider field of view on low power for general viewing purposes, with the ability to draw distant subjects in close for more detailed observations. This version of the TSN-883 is configured with the eyepiece set at a 45° angle to the optical tube that places your head in a comfortable viewing position whether you're standing, sitting, or lying prone.

To reduce weight, without sacrificing strength or durability, the chassis is made of a polycarbonate material and wrapped in a slip-resistant armor. A rubberized and textured zoom collar and focus wheel make adjustments fast and easy, even when it's cold and wet or when you're wearing gloves. The optical tube is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes or environmental conditions. To increase your mounting options, the TSN-883 comes outfitted with both a 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 tripod attachment—making it compatible with most photo/video/field tripods, heads, quick release plates, and even window mounts.

125th Anniversary Edition

  • Anniversary edition scope features a special black armor color that stands out for its subdued, refined look
  • Limited quantities of just 150 units allotted to the USA
  • Each spotter has its own individual special anniversary serial number
  • Special anniversary packaging
  • Custom matching black neoprene stay-on/view-through case that is not available separately
  • Includes an eyepiece that is normally sold separately to provide a complete spotting scope kit

Optical Performance

  • Powerful 25-60x magnification range is optimized for long-range applications, allowing the user to scan the terrain for subjects on low power with the ability to zoom in and make detailed observations
  • Oversized 88mm aperture draws in the large amounts of light required to ensure views stay crisp and bright even when viewing subjects at extreme long range on high magnifications, especially in challenging light
  • Porro prism optical path eliminates the internal interference that roof prisms experience while producing a rich depth of field
  • Ultra-low dispersion PROMINAR fluorite glass elements eliminate chromatic aberration, which causes halos, astigmatism, and fringing, for improved color rendition and contrast
  • Fully multi-coated optics maximize light transmission through the lens to improve image brightness, color rendition, and contrast
  • 126-foot field of view at 1000 yards on 25x, 69-foot on 60x

Use and Handling

  • 45° angled eyepiece to place the user's head in a comfortable viewing position, whether sitting, standing, or lying prone
  • Two-speed coarse and fine focusing mechanism ensures tack-sharp views for detailed observation and positive identification
  • Integrated aiming sight makes finding subjects fast and easy, so users spend more time observing their subjects than trying to locate them
  • Smooth and precise fine and coarse two-speed focusing mechanism moves through the entire focus range in two turns
  • Rubberized and textured zoom collar and focusing wheel are easy to manipulate in cold and wet weather or while wearing gloves
  • 95mm objective lens filter threads allow the use of special filters, like neutral density or polarizing, to enhance the view, especially in difficult conditions like in the snow or near water
  • Twist-up eyecup for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Rotating tripod collar allows the orientation of the eyepiece relative to the tripod to be rotated and adjusted for the most convenient and comfortable viewing position
  • 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mount to accommodate most photo, video, and field tripods
  • Long eye relief at all magnifications improves viewing comfort and reduces eyestrain
  • 3.5-1.5mm exit pupil

Construction Details

  • 13.5" long, the design makes it easy to pack and carry in the field
  • Impact-resistant polycarbonate chassis helps to offset the weight of the glass to ensure it is manageable
  • Chassis material is temperature resistant, preventing the expansion and contraction that is common with metal, which can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time and prevent sharp focus
  • Nitrogen filled, IPX6-rated to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes and conditions
  • Oil-resistant KR exterior lens coatings make it easy for dirt, sap, and oil to be cleaned off without smudges or residue
  • Retractable sunshade reduces glare and lens flare and keeps snow and rain off the objective for clearer viewing
