The APO MicroPrime Cine 85mm T2.1 Lens from SLR Magic offers apochromatic capture in a lighter-weight, cine-style form. With a 43.27mm image circle projection, this longer Canon EF-mount lens is suitable for use with 8K cameras with high-resolution full-frame sensors. Its apochromatic elements are designed to correct color aberrations often seen in high-contrast images or shots captured with wide-open apertures.

Cine-style focus and iris gears and an internal focus design enable you to pull focus without the length of the lens changing, suiting this lens for use with rod-mounted accessories and matte boxes. The APO MicroPrime Cine lenses feature 150° of focus rotation, a common 85mm front diameter that eliminates the need for multiple matte box adapter rings, and an internal 82mm filter thread.

The 85mm is so sharp and the 2.1 allows so much light that I am starting to think that my 25mm SLR Magic APO was broken since day one.

I never thought I needed an 85mm, but am really please with this lens for CUs. It renders the face wonderfully and the signature look of this lens matches very closely to cine primes 10x what I paid. I am sure this lens will someday be a collector's item.

A fantastic lens for a low price

This is one of the best lenses I've ever owned at this price point; solid all-metal construction, nicely dampened rings, etched and filled markings, very little breathing, nice edge to edge sharpness, classic but not aggressive flaring, neutral colors, etc. Functionally, this is a great lens for single operators and will probably last for decades if properly cared for. Aesthetically, it produces detailed but not overly sharp images that remind me of much more expensive cinema lenses. IMO, this is a great choice for narrative and cinema style documentary. I'm looking forward to owning the entire set.

I got this lens as part of SLR Magic APO MicroPrime set. The lenses comes in native EF mount making it a perfect match for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K. The lenses covers full frame and they offer a good balance between modern sharp clinical look and vintage ones. They also have a lovely rounded creamy bokeh.

As with my review of their APO Microprime 32mm T2.1 (my favorite), These lenses are incredible for their price and quality. The image is crisp, but not overly sharp, bokeh is beautiful, I love how blues and reds are rendered, good contrast... right kind of character, weight and build I needed with my Komodo.

85mm is always the go to for closeups of people and this one is beautiful and great for the price. Avoid the 25mm as you'll be disappointed that it doesn't match the rest.
