Seagate 520 Internal SSD Reviews

Very fast, very small

I got this as my first M2 drive for a SFF build in a nr200 so that I wouldn't have to deal with running cables, and I'm very happy with the results. Easiest storage install I've ever done, and it is FAST. I also opted to put a heatsink on it, mostly to extend the life of the drive. M2 isn't the cheapest option, but the performance gains are noticable even without running benchmarks.

Upgrade to a nice M.2 drive with gen3 x4 NVME. Gen 4 is much faster on X570 motherboard. Would buy more if I had available slots.

Works as advertised and as reviewed

I installed this FireCuda as the main drive for my OS in an MSI B550 Carbon motherboard after researching reviews on M.2 drives, which unanimously give it high ratings. This was a great purchase; I chose it for a second system with equally satisfactory results.

Amazing Performance

Windows boots up extremely fast, the only bottleneck I have when gaming is now my internet. Definitely a great buy at the price and 1TB is a good size for almost every need.

6GBps reads and 3.5GBps writes

Runs well on X570 Unify w/ 5950x.

Speeds much lower than advertized

Running on X570 Unify w/ 5950x, write speed is 2GBps, read speed is 5GBps. Samsung NVMe driver is unavailable, so FireCuda 520 is cheaper and more performant at this moment. When Samsung driver is released, situation might change.

Fast and reliable so far.

I bought this because it was cheaper than comparable SSDs. It's insanely fast and hasn't given me the slightest hint of reliability issues. Read and write benchmarks show that speeds are about as advertised. Copying over 300 Gb of audio files from another fast external SSD was genuinely fun. Even with the external drive as the bottleneck and only pushing the Seagage to ~20% speed utilization, that process only took a few minutes. I can't imagine many tasks where this is the bottleneck of the task. As faster drives come out, I don't currently see any point in paying more for something faster. I've only had this for a week. I'll update if it breaks.

Awesome speed and much better TBW than the rest!

I'm a huge Seagate fan the last couple of years, and the 520's and 530's don't disappoint! The TBW has gotten so high on these. I've gotten awesome and consistent read/write with these on my recent gigabyte i9 build :)
