Countryman I2 Overview

The black I2 Saxophone and Brass Microphone Kit with cH-Style 4-Pin Connector for Audio Technica ATW-3201 Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a mic that has been built from the ground up for smooth frequency response, low noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls and natural on- and off-axis response. It can be used to capture natural audio for this instrument.

The I2 microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version offers a standard sensitivity for close miking saxophones, horns, and brass instruments and features a flexible positioning arm for precise microphone placement. In addition, the 5' cable is hardwired to the mic and terminates with a cH-style 4-pin connector for direct connection to Audio Technica ATW-3201 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.
Complete Control
Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the instrument mounts, which position securely and gently on the instrument for capturing audio.
Effortless Possibilities
Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning and consistent patterns.
Polar Pattern
A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very high rejection for sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.

Great instrument isolation

I have used several different mics to mic a flute in a loud band and the leakage from the drums usually competes with the flute. With the i2, that is over for me. Our flute player was a few feet from the drum kit and was barely picking up drums. The caridod is the way to go. The tonal quality is outstanding. It comes with a cork lined clip but it still picks up the valve noise in between songs if your musician is fiddling with them. It is very noticeable. While playing, I had no problem getting plenty of gain out of the flute. Used with ULXD1 beltpack. I am very happy with this mic.

What are the dimensions of the mount? I have ...

What are the dimensions of the mount? I have roughly 1.5" of space between the bridge and end of the string, and I want to make sure it will fit my violin.

The specific dimensions of the I2 Violin Mount in the Countryman I2 Violin and Viola Microphone Kit are not provided by the manufacturer, however, this mount should work well in your scenario.
