Nikon's basic black 8x42 Aculon A211 Binoculars is an ideal device for hunters, birders, and outdoor enthusiasts who require an optic that delivers the ability to observe quickly on the go, without the bulk and weight of larger models.

The enhanced light-gathering ability offered by the 42mm objectives helps to ensure bright and clear views, even in challenging situations like at dawn or dusk, or when peering into dense underbrush. Anti-reflection multi-coated aspherical lenses, made with environmentally friendly Eco-Glass elements, complement the BAK4 Porro prism light path to deliver high-contrast images with enhanced depth of field without edge distortion, as well as accurate color fidelity across the entire wide field of view.

The Aculon's sculpted rubber-armored housing is designed to fit naturally into the observer's hand and provide secure non-slip handling. It is offered here in basic black. Twist-up rubber eyecups and a comfortable eye relief enable easy viewing without eye fatigue, especially during long observation sessions. The combination of image quality and user-friendly design make the 8x42 Aculon A211 a natural option for intermediate- to long-range glassing.

Optical Performance

  • Moderate 8x power magnifies images while preserving a wide field of view and exit pupil for easier, more comfortable viewing
  • 42mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability, even in challenging conditions such as at dawn and dusk, without the bulk or weight of larger objectives
  • Traditional Porro prism light path produces a rich depth of field, allowing the user to discern the relative distances between objects being viewed
  • High refractive index BAK4 prisms deliver a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Aspherical eyepiece lenses correct spherical aberration to produce clear and crisp images, with reduced edge distortion and astigmatism
  • Anti-reflection multi-coated optics produce neutral and accurate color fidelity and improve contrast and image brightness
  • Wide apparent angle of view reduces the appearance of visible hand shake while offering panoramic views
  • 420-foot field of view at 1000 yards

Use and Handling

  • Large slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate, even while wearing gloves
  • Right-eye dioptric correction compensates for individual user's optical prescription for clearer and sharper views
  • 56-72mm interpupillary adjustment range
  • Twist-up click-stop rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use with reduced vibration and arm fatigue
  • 12mm eye relief allows easy viewing without eye fatigue, especially during long observation sessions
  • Comfortable 5.3mm exit pupil will completely cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low light for a full and complete view without vignetting

Nikon Aculon A211 8x42 Reviews

Nice binos for the price.

These binos are comfortable and easy to use. The only downside to them is that the lens caps are not tethered (as they are in other Nikon binos) and fit so loosely that I don't expect them to be around after a couple of uses.

Great Investment

Great quality binoculars, they're so clear! I highly recommend it.

Good value

These binoculars are nothing special, but they are decent birding binoculars at a very fair price. They are bright enough to use in the early morning or late in the day, when light is iffy. 8x is about right for birding -- it's got enough magnification to help in identification, but not so much that it's hard to find the bird. It's also about as much magnification as I can use without getting seasick from my own unsteady hands. There is some chromatic aberration around the edges of the lenses, but the sweet spot of the lenses are free of CA. I was not distracted by the CA at all, but different people have different tolerances for such things. BTW, the negative review that notes the lack of diopter correction on the right eyepiece just doesn't understand the design of the binocular. The intent is to adjust the binocular by looking through the right eyepiece and focusing on an object. Then close the right eye and look through the left eye at the same object. Adjust the diopter control as needed to bring the left eye into focus. Finally, open both eyes and move the two barrels together or apart until the two eyes are seeing one aligned in-focus image. There is no point in having a diopter adjustment for both eyes when you use the adjustment as designed.

It was a disappointment once I opened the box. The overall look was ok but when I checked closer, the rubber all over was peeled from the body, there are several scratches and the lens cover strap hole was broken. It seemed like Nikon's refurbish standard has dropped so low these days.

Well worth the money

I bought these binoculars for and extra pair to have on a trip. I like them so much that my old pair is now the extra. My wife likes to look at the same time I am now she can.
