Great for podcasters, musicians, and audio engineers, this B&H Kit includes the Sony MDR-7506 headphones, the Senal SMH-1000 headphones, two protective carry pouches, and two 1/4" adapters. Thanks to their circumaural, closed-back design, these headphones provide passive noise isolation to help you listen critically with reduced background noise.

Whether you connect the headphones to your smartphone, tablet, mixer, audio interface, or headphone amp, the 40mm neodymium dynamic drivers deliver a full-frequency response that's well suited for recording, editing, and casual listening.

Sony MDR-7506 Headphones

The MDR-7506 is a staple within the recording, film and live arenas. Due to its low impedance and closed-ear design, these headphones do an outstanding job of cutting down background noise while providing plenty of volume in the studio or in the field. Additionally, the closed design helps eliminate headphone bleed when overdubbing in the studio.

The MDR-7506 is an over-ear design and is ideal for use with MIDI workstations, camcorders, or other equipment with less than powerful headphone amplification. The headphone has a foldable design, making it convenient to store or transport, and its coiled cable allows it to stretch and spring back into place whenever you need a bit more reach.

Circumaural closed-back stereo headphone ideal for use in professional applications
40mm diameter drive units deliver deeper bass, lower distortion, and wider dynamic range
Neodymium magnets for maximum energy and minimum size
Compact, foldable design
Coiled cable allows for better mobility and reach, while also preventing snags from tugging the headphones right off your ears
OFC cable and gold plated Unimatch plug provides both 1/8" mini-jack and 1/4" TRS phono connectivity

Senal SMH-1000 Professional Field and Studio Monitor Headphones

The SMH-1000 Professional Field and Studio Monitor Headphones from Senal feature a classic closed-back, over-the-ear, collapsible design. With features like interchangeable cables, a refined frequency response, wire guides, superior comfort, and durable materials, the SMH-1000 is ideal for studio and field applications.

Equipped with 40mm neodymium drivers at 58-ohm impedance, the SMH-1000 headphones are designed to be loud enough when attached to low powered devices such as mobile phones and MP3 players, yet robust enough to handle studio headphone amps without distortion. The over-ear, closed-back design is intended to help block unwanted outside noise, which is useful in professional field recording and studio monitoring scenarios where isolation is critical.

The headphones are designed with an EQ curve that's been tailored for a slightly enhanced low end that allows field engineers to detect wind noise more effectively and enables studio engineers to monitor bass and sub-bass frequencies. The high-frequency response has been extended to accurately reproduce spatial detail. There is also a pronounced but smooth midrange that reduces ear fatigue over prolonged periods, while maintaining focus on vocal and dialogue intelligibility.

Designed for flexibility as well as great sound, the SMH-1000 makes use of twist-lock detachable cabling. There are two detachable cables included in each box that can be used interchangeably. There is a stretchable 4 to 10' coiled cable that provides better mobility and reach, that also helps prevent snags from pulling the headphones off of your head. This can be useful when navigating through gear-cluttered recording studio environments. There is also a 3' straight cable that is useful when less slack is ideal, such as when using a waist-mounted field recorder or mixer, or when using your mobile device.

The SMH-1000 has been built with convenience, practicality, and comfort in mind. The headphones have a collapsible folding mechanism for compact storage and transport. They also have wire guides to keep the earcup wires from pinching. Furthermore, they are fitted with a padded headband and soft replaceable ear cushions to maximize comfort during extended listening.

An excellent choice for commercial recording, broadcast, home studios, and live and location sound. Also great for home and portable entertainment.
Over-ear, closed-back (circumaural) stereo headphone design to help block unwanted environmental noise. Ideal for use in professional applications such as studio or field recording.
Detachable twist-locking 10' coiled cable and 3' straight cable are included. Replacement cables also available from Senal.
Enhanced low end designed to allow field engineers to detect wind noise effectively, and for studio engineers to monitor bass and sub-bass frequencies.
Pronounced but smooth midrange tailored to reduce ear fatigue over prolonged periods while maintaining focus on vocal and dialog intelligibility.
Extended high frequency response designed to reproduce spatial detail accurately. Gradual roll off at 14 kHz allows for accurate low-level monitoring and hearing protection.
Padded headband and soft replaceable ear cushions. Replacement cushions are available separately.
Easy storage via collapsible folding mechanism.

The Sony MDR-7506 has been my go to headphones since they came out. The sound quality is outstanding, these are some of the best studio headphones you can get for this price. Adding the Senal SMH-1000 for half the price makes this a deal you can't pass up.

Good buy if you need two sets of decent headphones.

These are very similar in quality and sound I feel the sony is a tad better, the senal does have a removable cable and cable options. I can tell why these are industry standard for the intended use, I am using them to self monitor on a live stream scenario and the voice is very clear and you can hear every little detail of mouth noises which is perfect for that I needed.

You can't go wrong with the Sony MDR-7506 - the industry workhorse standard for field recording, editing, reference, etc. But I was very surprised at the quality of the Senal SMH-1000. As good as the Sony in my opinion. This is a great combo at a great price.

What's the point of ordering two different brands/models of headphones? Does each have a unique sonic signature that makes it valuable to have both? And if so, what is it?
Asked by: David
For monitoring, the Sony MDR-7506 and Senal SMH-1000 are both very popular over-ear, closed-back headphone models. Both have 40mm drivers which provide a frequency response range of 10 Hz to 20 kHz and similar sensitivity ratings..The way each headset fits can differ so you may find that you prefer one over the other or may also find that each is best suited for a particular task.

Which is the better one for video post-production with multi-channels of audio?
Asked by: ry
Both models offered in the Sony MDR-7506 and Senal SMH-1000 Headphones Kit are great for editing audio for video. The headphones have almost identical feature sets and specifications, making it hard to choose between the two.
