Mitakon Zhongyi 85mm f/2.8 1-5X Super Macro Reviews

Wonderful lens!

Build feels solid. Optics sharp. Long working distance great for bug pics. Contrast rather low and lens prone to flare, so four stars; but those issues usually easily corrected in processing. Although experienced shooting macro, this lens took some getting used to and my results improve each time I use it. For photographer able to give the lens what it requires, a game changer!

Not the best macro lens in the world but best at this price

It is a bit soft but it's not that bad considering the price. 1-5X is a very useful range in the field especially doing some casual shooting. But if it's for serious shots, I would go for the Laowa 25mm instead. Much sharper.

As soft as it gets

I have been waiting for this lens since it was announced. I thought it would be a good option to get closer. Everything that came out of it was very soft. I do not recommend this lens.

I have Olympus omd mark an two purchased when they first came out, all my Olympus fine this one is just black, I tried all the setting, The instructions(so small you need a Marco lens) no help The unit fit loose the first time and then better but still loose, sending back of course, too bad one can not give it a zero star. I love B&H long time customer, first sending because it just didn't work.

Incorrect description for this product. Poor image quality.

Received this yesterday, and realized that even though the description says: Manual focus operation for precise control over focusing distance when working with close-up subjects., there is actually zero focus ability on this lens. You're expected to use a focus rail kit I guess, which is fine I, but the description is incorrect. So if you find rail kits annoying, as I do, then understand that before you purchase this lens. Since it's mid-may now, I expected that this was the next revision with improved image quality, but my first couple of test shots came out very soft. Compared to my other 2 macro lenses (Sigma and Tamron) the quality on this so far is pretty meh. Also due to no focus adjustment, I cannot even focus stack. Sending the lens back, unfortunately. I had this watchlisted because I was pretty excited about a 5:1 macro, but I guess I'll wait for something better.

Worst lens you can afford!

I bought an objective, an official site, firstly, the mount did not fit my camera (Canon EF), and secondly, my phone shoots better macro shots! Terrible and gnarled object! I am very sorry that I contacted this office!

Newer version much better than the original.

I ordered the lens the moment I could from the manufacturer. I no sooner received it and got a notice that the lens had a problem and needed to be replaced with a new version that corrected the softness issue. Return postage paid. I was annoyed that it had to go back, but to give them credit, they owned up to the problem and took it back immediately. They followed up by sending me the upgraded version. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to know which version is for sale. I would assume all new versions are the repaired ones. Hi, since this is a manual focus lens, there's no need to pay for an adapter that supports AF. This adapter will work very well: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/839141-REG/vello_la_nex_cef_vello_lens_mount_adapter.html
