4 Beamforming Antennas

The Archer AX50 features 4 external high-gain antennas with beamforming technology, which focuses signal strength towards the devices that actively access the router.

Save Battery with TWT

TWT stands for Target Wake Time, which is a technology that's meant to preserve your mobile device's battery life. TWT schedules when your compatible devices will power on to send and receive data. This helps your devices sleep longer and thereby decrease battery usage.

Network Security with HomeCare

TP-Link's HomeCare software is specially designed to both protect your sensitive data and give you detailed control over network access. Here are some of the capabilities of HomeCare:

Built-in anti-virus to help protect your sensitive data
Parental controls that let you restrict time spent online and block inappropriate content
Prioritize network traffic to optimize the speed of specific devices and applications

App-Based Setup

With TP-Link's Tether app for Android and iOS devices, you can conveniently setup and manage your network via a smartphone or tablet.

TP-Link AX50 Reviews

Excellent wireless router!

I purchased this router based on other reviews I read. It's been excellent - fairly easy to set up - and no disruptions in service (so far). I would recommend.

Gets the job done

Does what it says on the tin. I upgraded because my prior router, also TP link, could not max out my internet connection and choked up around 150mbps. This one will do around 500mpbs wired no problem, which is what I'm getting from my ISP so no bottleneck there. Also slightly smaller than the prior gen router... granted you have to find a space for all those antennae. As a bonus, transferring files on Wifi between computers is much faster than before. It does seem to run pretty warm, so hopefully that isn't an issue long term. As usual, TP link's admin interface is totally fine.

Working Well So Far

The router is well working well thus far. The physical setup and instructions were straightforward, but the maintenance with the Tether app vs. website was quite confusing. In the end, you don't need to download the app and can manage everything with the website they provide. The benefit of the app is you can see how many devices are connected and using the WiFi.

Works as advertised. Comes with a lifetime free subscription of TP-Link's HomeCare. No need to use the Tether App- you can set up the router through a browser once you connect to the Router via wifi (user/pass at the bottom of deveice).

this is an awesome item for a small area.

It's fast and covers the entire house.

I live in a remote area that just got wired for fiber-optic broadband service. I decided to buy my own router rather than rent one from the service provider. I got this router because of a tech review that gave it a high rating. I am very pleased with the simplicity of setup and the performance. It covers three levels in the house and some outdoor areas as well, about 2,000 square feet total. Both 2.4G and 5G work well in all areas, although I was told that the 5G is supposed to be faster, but that the 2.4G covers a bigger area. The router connects a TV, 2 laptops, 2 tablets, and 2 smartphones in the house.

I wouldn't buy this

This product is highly rated in various reviews and hence I bought it- Several significant issues: 1) No tech support, no one to call when I had problems setting it up or when it failed in the middle of the day and had so much trouble getting it back one 2) Security is very poor with this unit - it is WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) security. I used the signal to get wi-fi on my iphone and it says on my iphone Weak Security and it then said not considered secure. I spoke with an IT specialist who was shocked that the product uses an outdated security system 3) It stopped working 8 hours after installing it. I got it back on but ...I am returning it.
