Just finished installing this product without any problems. Added another SATA and everything works as advertised. Yes, the cable is short, but doesn't interfere with air flow.

You can get an 8TB hard drive for about $200. That means that half of the cost is just the enclosure (a bent piece of metal) and a very, very, very short cable. I don't mind paying a premium for a Mac compatible product but if they had watched people try to actually install this thing they would have seen just how difficult they made it by shipping it with such a short cable.

Great build quality, would like a drive-less option

For a computer that costs way more than $10K, the build quality of this unit was suitably very solid and it sits very precisely within the unit. The documentation isn't great, but it was an easy installation once I figured out the very specific layout the cables need to take to avoid hitting the fan. As of the moment I'm writing this, I'm not aware of another SATA drive option for internal mounting and I would have liked a drive-less option so I could supply my own raw drives.

Nice install and works well so far

The instructions could be better, and I wish they would tell you in advance what drive comes with the enclosure ... so that you can install a second drive for raid use before mounting in the Pro. It's all very neat.

Works as described, easy installation. Removed 8TB drive, replaced with two 1TB drives for use as backups. 8TB drive installed in external enclosure. Nice solid design.

Massive Storage

Massive Storage. Easy to install, easy to use. I added another 8TB slow drive to it for an insane amount of internal back up. Totally worthy.

Consider the Sonnet Fusion Flex J3i (also here at B&H). It is an empty enclosure, so you can choose your own drives. It will also hold a third SSD.

I would like to purchase a compatible 8tb drive for this, is there any update on what that product is, and a link to purchase it?
Asked by: Chad
I now it comes with one, but I want to purchase the second one, so I would have 16tb. There seems to be some confusion as to whether or not it is even possible to purchase a 2nd drive that is compatible.
