Record high-quality podcasts or stream sterling audio with the RODE NT-USB Mini, a USB microphone that punches above its class in terms of sound, reliability, and ease of use. Whether you're recording content on a computer or a tablet, this USB microphone can ensure a professional sound, as its capsule is specifically tuned for the spoken word, and its construction is tailored to provide as little handling noise as possible. Plus, with free RODE Connect software, you can simultaneously use up to four NT-USB Mini mics with a single Mac/Windows computer and unlock special features optimized for podcasting.

The RODE NT-USB Mini will allow you to record audio straight to your computer over USB, foregoing the usual audio interface, mixer, or high-priced recording equipment. It will do so while minimizing noise in the room, thanks to its cardioid polar pattern, which naturally focuses audio spoken directly into the mic while tamping down any sound to the back or sides. Requiring no special drivers to download—and filtering out vocal plosives with an internal windscreen—the mic will enable you to capture a clean recording, one that sounds professional right out of the gate.

Designed for the Spoken Word

The NT-USB Mini's condenser capsule is tuned by RODE to capture both the warmth and the presence of your voice, giving your recordings the heft they need to cut through the fray.

Works with Your Setup

The mic will operate with both Mac and Windows computers as well as tablets, so long as you have the compatible adapter for mobile devices (available separately). No preamp, interface, converters, or mixer are necessary for recording your voice.

Thoughtful Appointments for Everyday Use

A built-in windscreen helps mitigate vocal pops and plosives for a cleaner sound. The included stand is more than a stand—it isolates the NT-USB Mini from structurally borne noises and vibrations. This delivers a cleaner sound. If you want to take the mic off the stand, this is easy, as its magnetically attached. A 5/8 to 3/8" thread adapter ensures you can mount NT-USB Mini on nearly any mic stand.

Cardioid Polar Pattern for the Untreated Room

The microphone makes use of a directional cardioid polar pattern to minimize off-axis sound. This polar pattern naturally tamps down room tone, focusing the audio capture on whatever's in front of the mic. Depending on your particular room, you may still need a little room treatment, or some noise-reduction software, to address issues such as your computer's hum or your air conditioner—but the chances of this are markedly lower with a cardioid polar pattern.

Built-In 3.5mm Headphone Jack and Volume Dial

The mic offers a headphone jack for monitoring. Just plug a pair of headphones into the NT-USB Mini's 3.5mm jack, and you'll be able to listen to your high-quality audio in all its glory. Also, a convenient volume dial helps you raise or lower the headphone volume; you won't have to change the volume on your computer or your recording software to hear audio at your desired level.

High-Quality Audio Capture

The mic records audio at 24-bit / 48 kHz, giving you the broadcast standard for how many samples it can record in a second, and providing a high degree of dynamic range. A non-techy translation: this microphone is well suited for picking up the nuances of your voice.

USB Connection Right Out of the Box

An included USB cable means you can get up and running right away. Bus-powering means no batteries or pesky wall-wart adapters are required to run the mic. Class-compliant operation means you don't need to download and install separate software to make the mic "talk" to your computer—all you need to do is plug it in.

I have been using it as a desktop microphone. It is of higher quality than my old Audio Technica AT2020 and I prefer the design and stand compared to other options.

Mic needed for better quality video podcast.

I have used the rode wireless and small shotgun for the past two years on a broadcast television show. For a new venture, a video podcast that is linked up with the other show host in Las Vegas, using their video hookup, but the computer audio, the sound was not sharp and we had to deal with a slight delay. Rode to the rescue, where combined with the adjustable mike arm extender, the audio quality is now what I want. My only criticism of the package was a lack of instructions for the extension arm. Using come common sense and checking it on-line via YouTube, it wasn't too difficult to assemble, but instructions would have save some time.

I do a lot of video podcasts and live streaming/virtual events and I always get compliments on my audio. The added bonus is the Rode Connect software that allows me to record audio (such as interviews, audio from a video clip, etc). I can even pipe sound directly into a live stream with Rode Connect (free download). I recently this kit so I have bought Rode NT-Mini to travel with. The arm is small than the one I have in my home office. I use it in my living room area when I want to take advantage of natural light for a recording. It's not the best-built thing I own but it gets the job done. I don't use the headphones much but they are comfortable. They have a definite plastic feel but I do like that I can manipulate the headphone cups DJ-style

Great bundle set

So Rode microphones are always known for their quality and this one is no different. Straight out of the box you can feel the metal grill and the weight of the product. Audio wise, it is pretty sensitive, and the included pop filter does work to a certain extent. I don't have powerful plosives so for me that's not a big issue, but for most I would recommend buying an additional pop filter if you don't already have one. The main catch of this microphone is that you need to download the associated rode software to have the mic sound good through applications like zoom or teams. It may just be the way my streaming PC is set up, but the software has caused a few issues with audio settings, albeit nothing that's impossible to work around. The headset jack on the microphone is also solid and works to power more hungry devices. The book arm that comes with this set is significantly sturdier than the one I had prior. Easy to set up if you have any knowledge of how a boom arm should look. Wish it included a shock mount but for this price that's asking a lot. Mic screwed into the mount easily with the adapter and the boom is solid enough to hold up this hefty mic with no issue. I haven't used the headset yet, as I got it as a backup when people join on stream, but it seems comfortable when I put it on. Maybe a little too tight for those who wear glasses but that should loosen up a bit over time to become more comfortable. Tldr: Good Mic, Good Boom, Good Price, Haven't used the headset.

If your PC only has (1) USB port, can you use a USB HUB to run more than one NT-USB MINI with the Rode Connect Software?
Asked by: Paul
I mostly use it with an ipad and with that the answer is no because the ipad only allows one audio interface at a time. With windows I'm sure its fine to recognize both mics at the same time but like any soundcard only use one at a time but with the new rode connect software I think you can use both at the same time.
