Can I record a track that I'm not outputting to the camera? Basically, shut tracks off for a live broadcast but retain the ability to mix them in later in post?
Asked by: David
I used to use the 60D, and that is the exact reason I had to change recently. I did like the 60 D, it just had some limitations. I bought the TASCAM DR - 70D. It has omni directional mics built in. I can now run that independently.

Has anyone successfully replaced the usb jack on one of these? They are very easily damaged and mine bit the dust the second time I used it.

There are no user serviceable parts on this, and to attempt a repair will void the manufacturer's warranty. Please contact Tascam for service: 323-727-7617

In my interviews I have 4 people with their own lav microphones... how can I connect the 4 microphones to this 4-channel recorder so I can get 4 indiclvidual tracks? If one of the guest speaks to loud I want to be able to turn it down individually in post using Adobe Premiere and Adobe sound Booth. I know that I can connect 2 mics to input #1 and #2 but Do I have to use a splitter I guess for the 3/4 input to connect 2 mics there? Will it be separate tracks? Thanks.
Asked by: Miquel
Ok so the Tascam recorder will take two xlr mics and there is a 3.5mm mic input that splits mic 3 and 4 you will need this for the person 3 and 4 copy link https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1025888-REG/polsen_olm_20_dual_omni_lav.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Can you send timecode to this unit? ideally wirelessly? I know it's a longshot but what if you use a wireless SD card? Will it then receive a timecode?
Asked by: Brandon
No, the DRR-60D does not have a time code function. It does have a slate, though, so if you are passing audio to your camera you can sink up in post.

In my interviews I have up to 4 people talking on their own microphone... how can I connect 4 Lav mics 3.5mm to this 4-channel recorder... channels do not correspond to 4 inputs? I want to be able to have 4 separate tracks so if someone speaks loudly I can turn that down in post in Adobe Premiere. Thanks!
Asked by: Miquel
The Tascam DR-60D MKII features two XLR/ TRS 1/4-inch inputs and one stereo 1/8-inch input, which is considered channel 3/4. This unit works best with three microphones. I would recommend the Tascam DR-70D, B&H # TADR70D, which has four XLR/TRS 1/4- inch inputs. Each of your lavalier mics would have to be battery- powered, and use an XLR adapter, such as the Rode VXLR - Mono Mini-Jack to XLR Converter, B&H # ROVXLR.
