Movo Photo WMX-1-DUO Overview

For vloggers, YouTubers, and mobile journalists looking to upgrade from the built-in microphone on their camera or smartphone to a quality two-person wireless lavalier mic system on a tight budget, the Movo Photo WMX-1-DUO presents a great combination of affordability and simplicity whether shooting with a DSLR/mirrorless camera or a mobile device.

With no menus to navigate, no channels to set, and no complicated settings to configure, the WMX-1-DUO's user-friendly operations can get you going in a matter of moments. Plus, features such as real-time headphone monitoring and dedicated mic and line inputs—options normally only found on much more expensive systems—empower you with extra versatility for more demanding projects.

All you need to provide is some AAA batteries; the WMX-1-DUO comes with everything else necessary to start recording clear, intelligible speech to your camera or smartphone. It includes two bodypack transmitters—each with a clip-on lavalier microphone and a windscreen, a dual-channel receiver with a belt clip and a shoe mount, multiple audio cables, and a hard case to carry the whole system.

Unboxing the WMX-1-DUO
Since each transmitter comes with a belt clip, it can easily be attached to the subject's clothing or costume. Being ultracompact and lightweight, it won't be a bother to the talent. It offers separate mic and line inputs that enable proper connection of a microphone or a line-level source such as a camera feed.

The equally ultracompact dual-channel receiver can accommodate up to two transmitters at the same time, making it a capable device for one- or two-person shoots. It includes a belt clip and a shoe mount so you can place it on you or your camera rig, plus TRS and TRRS audio cables to allow proper hookup to your camera (via TRS) or smartphone (via TRRS).

Along with each clip-on lavalier microphone, you get a windscreen that's designed to reduce noise from light wind, breaths, and rustling of clothes. The mic's omnidirectional polar pattern ensures consistent voice pickup even if the mic isn't pointed directly at the subject.
Simple Setup
Don't worry about frequency scanning or manual channel assignments, the receiver and transmitter only need to be paired. Once that straightforward process is done, the system is ready to go.

Two AAA batteries power each transmitter/receiver for up to six hours of run time. Rather than having to recharge batteries between gigs, just swap drained batteries for fresh ones.

The receiver features volume buttons, which allow you to adjust the signal level of the receiver's output to achieve a proper, distortion-free recording level on your camera or smartphone.

Connect a pair of headphones to the receiver's dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack to experience real-time monitoring of your audio signal.
2.4 GHz Digital Wireless
The WMX-1-DUO utilizes 2.4 GHz digital technology to provide simple and reliable wireless signal. 2.4 GHz systems require no special license, so you can use the WMX-1-DUO anywhere in the world.

By operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency spectrum, the WMX-1-DUO avoids interference from commonly used UHF and VHF wireless mic systems. Keep the WMX-1-DUO away from heavy Wi-Fi and 2.4 GHz traffic for optimal performance.

With line-of-sight communication between the transmitter and receiver at a maximum distance of 200 feet, you can record your subject and get the right shot with confidence.

The receiver can be connected to a 3.5mm dedicated mic jack on a computer. If your computer has a combo headset jack, then you would need an adapter such as this STMUYHSMFF.

one mic is louder than the other. is there anyway to fix this?
Asked by: Khiry
Make sure that both microphones are connected to the mic input (not the line input) on each of the transmitters. Since the WMX-1-DUO system does not have individual level controls for each transmitter and people do tend to speak at different volume levels, try experimenting with placement of the microphones on each person wearing a mic. Try moving the mic closer to the mouth of the person whose volume is lower or move the mic further away from the mouth of the person whose volume is louder. If you find that there is still an usual difference between the output levels of each mic, please contact us for further assistance so we can do additional troubleshooting to determine whether there may be a problem with one of the mics or transmitters..

No. The receiver in this kit provides a summed mono output.
