This Sony UWP-D 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System Kit from B&H allows you to record two people on separate channels of your XLR-equipped camcorder or DSLR without requiring a second receiver, keeping your rig portable and compact.

The kit includes a URX-P03D two-channel camera-mount receiver, with its shoemount adapter, and two UTX-B40 bodypack transmitters, each with an ECM-V1BMP omnidirectional lavalier microphone. One 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and two 3.5mm to XLR output cables are included to connect the receiver to the camera or recorder of your choice.

Sony URX-P03D Dual-Channel Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver (UC25: 536 to 608 MHz)

The Sony URX-P03D dual-channel camera-mount wireless receiver gives you the ability to simultaneously receive audio from two UWP-D series transmitters. Fast and easy to set up with frequency auto-scan and IR sync functions, the receiver uses digital audio processing to deliver uncompromising sound quality for cameramen, videographers, vloggers, and journalists working in the field.

The compact URX-P03D fits neatly on any size camcorder or DSLR camera using the included shoemount adapter. Sony shooters can take advantage of the SMAD-P3D dual-channel MI (Multi-Interface) Shoe adapter (available separately), which lets you mount the receiver onto select cameras equipped with a Multi Interface Shoe, while providing a clean and direct audio connection without cables.

The URX-P03D features a wide 72 MHz bandwidth with 2772 UHF frequencies to choose from. It employs true-diversity technology for a reliable reception, even under difficult shooting conditions. You can operate up to 16 mics per frequency band in one location.

A 3.5mm external mic input allows you to connect an additional wired microphone, while the integrated 3-channel mixer enables you to control your mic levels as well as assign outputs as needed.

Other features include a large LCD display for easy access to controls, a headphone output, and USB connection for use with a power pack. Two AA batteries (alkaline or NiMH rechargeable type) power the receiver for up to 5 hours.

The URX-P03D is backward-compatible with Sony WL-800 and UWP Series systems.

The Sony UTX-B40 is a wireless bodypack transmitter compatible with the URX-P40 camera-mount receiver. Compact and lightweight, with a robust, all-metal construction, this bodypack is well suited for tough operating conditions, while remaining comfortable for the talent to wear. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries, with a selectable 5/30mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'.

The UTX-B40 comes with an ECM-V1BMP omnidirectional lavalier microphone optimized for speech. The transmitter has a locking, 3.5mm BMP-type microphone input connector with an adjustable input level to accommodate other compatible lavalier or headset microphones of your choice. The transmitter offers a 72 MHz bandwidth with 2772 selectable UHF frequencies.

The UTX-B40 is backward-compatible with Sony WL-800 and UWP Series systems.

Automatic NFC Sync Mode

Press and hold the NFC/Sync button on the receiver and it scans for the cleanest RF channel. Simply hold the transmitter next to the receiver; it automatically syncs up and you're good to go!

Unlike purely digital systems, the UTX-B40 allows you to send a single mic to multiple cameras for broadcast applications. Fast NFC communication makes setup for multiple receivers a breeze.

Auto-Gain Mode to Prevent Mic Distortion

Auto-Gain mode saves you the time and aggravation of setting and managing the input level on the transmitter. It uses a limiter to help prevent distortion, great when the loudness of the presenter’s voice is unknown.

The +15 dB Gain Volume-Boost mode boosts the mic gain by 15 dB to compensate for situations when the mic is not close enough to the presenter’s mouth and the audio level is insufficient.

Manual input-level setting is also available.

Each frequency band is the range in which the wireless mic system can transmit audio The UC14 band operates within the range between 470 to 542 MHz while the UC25 band operates within 536 to 608 MHz. Each band includes 2,772 individual frequencies for transmitting audio and the system automatically scans the airwaves then selects the clearest frequency for the system to use for transmitting audio. Up to 16 UWP-D wireless mic systems can be used together at the same time under optimal conditions. The best choice for a frequency band depends on which frequencies are used for strong broadcast signal (TV and radio) in the same area where the wireless mic system will be used. Sennheiser created a frequency finder guide for the United States that can help you to search by location and see where strong broadcast signal may be in use. Even though this guide was created by Sennheiser, it is still useful to see where strong or weak broadcast signal is in use and where there may be vacant frequencies. Keep in mind that the Sony bands offer 2,772 frequencies so chances are good that you will have clear useable frequencies available within both ranges. Here are the steps below. Please note: 1) The IR sensor on the UTX-B40 is next to the NFC sync icon, 2) this information can be found on page 11 of the URX-P03D's manual. Configuring the group/channel manually and configuring the channel settings via infrared communication (SYNC) 1 Configure the group/channel settings (page 9). 2 Press the MENU button to display the RX1 or RX2 menu, and press the + or – button to display the SYNC screen. 3 Press and hold the SET button for 1 second or longer. A confirmation screen appears. 4 Use the + or – button to select “YES,” then press the SET button. 5 Press and hold the SET button on the transmitter and press the POWER/MUTING button to turn the power on. 6 Place the infrared transmitter port on the unit near the infrared detector on the transmitter. Information about the channel set on the unit is sent to the transmitter, and a prompt appears on the transmitter display asking if you want to change to that frequency. 7 Use the + or – button to select “YES,” then press the SET button on the transmitter. This sets the transmit channel and compander mode.

I can’t get them to sync. Does anyone else have this problem? Got 3 sets and only one transmitter will sync with one of the dual receivers.

Thanks I figured it out. The IR sensor on the transmitter is on the front of the unit and I was used to the older models with the sensor on the side. I just didn’t have the sensors aligned properly. They work great now.
