Lupo Smartpanel Dual Color Reviews

Bright, Yes! Durable, NO!

After reading/watching several reviews on this light, it seemed the perfect option for a job we recently booked in South America which requires that we travel with the most minimal setup possible. It's super bright for it's size. That's what it's for and that's what it does well and that's where the good points end. The build quality feels like a $20 Amazon light or worse. The housing is very cheap feeling plastic. The adjustment knobs are not sturdy at all. I dropped it by accident from a height of about 3 feet and some little plastic standoffs inside the lens broke off and now one row of LED's doesn't turn on. If the build quality were even close to that of a cheap lilliput monitor and had some sort of rubber case with it the price would be a little less offensive. Lupo knows they are the only game in town with a light this bright and this small so they get away with charging $200 for a light that feels like it cost $3 to make.

I love it so much I'm buying another one.

I bought this light because I wanted the brightest on camera light I could find. This is that light. it is three times brighter than my old light. I like it so much, I'm buying a second one.

Bright bright bright!

This is the perfect replacement light for my custom built mini soft box. They replace a daylight only LED light I previously used. The color on these is excellent and they run on a Sony style battery that I already had. The build quality is very good. The dimmer and color pots are smooth acting. The on/off switch is robust. My favorite feature is a battery level indicator that my previous lights lacked.

Really wanted to like it

This would be the ultimate wedding reception light. More output and tighter beam angle than the Core SWX. Unfortunately, Lupo did not add a remote control and it cripples the potential of these lights. My advice to them, stop marketing this as an on-camera light. You can use softer sources as an on camera light. The amount of throw this light gives would be perfect for being used on a stand. You need a remote!

Just WOW !!  Adds sharpness to photos too.

I purchased two of these LED light panel, and the results are amazing. Photographer working with me said that he noticed significant improvement in clarity on his photos while for my videos it was such a breeze to setup and move these lights around ballroom during a wedding event. I will highly recommend these lights to photographers and videographers.

Small, bright, light weight, single battery powered.

My station picked one of these up for my Sony ENG camera. Running it from the D-tap on the camera. Using a tiny $5 SmallRig mini magic arm to hold it because the light itself is so light weight. It is very bright, and produces 3200K at the low end, and 5700k on the high end, as read by ATW on my Sony ENG camera. This means it matches the preset white selections for a Sony camera. The beam is a bit tight, but if you work in the dark and need a bit more throw, it works well. At 3200k, seems to have a noticable tinge of green to it. Including an image to show the tightish beam and the hue at 3200k with camera set to 3200k preset. Preset white was performed using halogen light matching the kelvin, so any tint you see in the still image is a product of the lights innacuracy.

Great but it does not tell you the colour temperature.

5600 or 3200K, that's all you know for sure. Nevertheless a fantastic light.

I bought an expensive AUKEY USB-C 100w power brick that outputs at a variety of voltages, including 12V @ 3Amps. Should be plenty of power in spec. Does NOT work. I cannot find any way to power this on AC. I may need to just return it. Anyone have a link to something that tested as working?

The Core, which I bought and returned, has a very heavy green tint, and the spot is a super spot, unusable for wide angle,a nd with the diffuser you loose all the brightness.

Here is what I was able to get to power this light with AC: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HNSFSNQ/ [Chanzon 12V 2.5A 30W AC DC Power Supply Adapter (Input 100-240V Output 12 Volt 2.5 Amp 30 Watt) Wall Wart Transformer UL] I have only used it a couple time for an hour or less, but it seems to work fine. No guarantee it will last like pro gear, but it is cheap and works.

With same setting, this light is obviously more brighter when using AC adapter, than using f970 battery. I wish I could get same amount of light from this light gear. Even if I use f970 battery. Is there something wrong with this lupo light?
Asked by: LEE
It is normal for lights to be brighter when plugged into AC adapters. AC adapters provide higher voltage than batteries.
