Meade 16-48x65 RangeView ED Spotting Scope (Angled Viewing)
Key Features
  • 45° Angled Viewing
  • Powerful 16-48x Zoom Eyepiece
  • 65mm Extra-Low Dispersion Objective Lens
  • Dielectric-Coated BK7 Porro Prism
The 45° angled-viewing Meade Instruments 16-48x65 RangeView ED Spotting Scope comes with a powerful zoom eyepiece that provides a wide magnification range that allows you to scan wide swaths of the landscape on low power for targets of interest with the ability to zoom in and make detailed observations and identification on maximum magnification. The large 65mm objective lens draws in copious amounts of light to boost its performance in challenging conditions such as at dawn and dusk. Dielectric-coated BK7 Porro prisms, extra-low dispersion (ED) glass, and anti-reflection multi-coatings maximize light transmission through the entire light path while minimizing astigmatism and off-axis comas to produce bright and clear high-contrast views with accurate colors and crisp resolution.

This iteration of the RangeView is outfitted with a two-speed focusing system that gives you fast coarse and precise fine focusing ability, and the 45° angled viewing configuration places your head in a comfortable viewing position whether you're standing, sitting, or lying prone. For optimum eyepiece orientation, the tripod collar rotates to give you easy access, and a 1/4"-20 mount makes it compatible with many tripods, quick release plates, and other popular support systems like window mounts. The housing is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging in extreme conditions. Meade adds extra protection and ease of use by providing a stay-on/view-through soft case that makes setup, use, and breakdown fast and easy.

Optical Performance

  • Broad and powerful 16-48x magnification range allows users to scan wide swaths of the landscape on low power with the ability to zoom in and make detailed observations and identification at high power
  • Large 65mm objective lens offers excellent light-gathering capabilities for use in challenging conditions
  • BK7 Porro prism with highly reflective dielectric coatings that maximize light transmission and limit internal diffraction, ensuring high-contrast views with enhanced clarity
  • Extra-low dispersion (ED) glass lenses offer true color representation, with improved clarity, contrast, and sharpness
  • Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics improve light transmission, color rendition, and resolution
  • 138-foot field of view at 1000 yards on 16x, 73.5-foot on 48x

Use and Handling

  • Eyepiece set at a 45° angle to place the head in a comfortable position whether standing, sitting, or lying prone
  • Dual focus system allows for fast coarse and precise fine focusing
  • Twist-up rubber eyecup for comfortable use with or without eyeglasses or sunglasses
  • Rotating tripod collar enables precise eyepiece placement for optimum comfort and accessibility regardless of the user's viewing position
  • 1/4"-20 tripod mount easily fits on most quick release plates or photo/video/field tripods
  • Long eye relief at all magnifications reduces eyestrain for improved viewing comfort
  • Comfortable 4.1mm exit pupil on 16x

Construction Details

  • Extendable sun shade improves contrast and clarity, especially when the scope is pointed in the direction of the sun
  • O-ring sealed to be waterproof and nitrogen filled to be resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature and environmental changes
  • Rubber armor protects housing from impacts while providing a slip-resistant grip
