Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM Reviews
Good
Light, fast-focussing, compact size and good looking results. What else is there?
Great for portraits!
Absolutely love the lens! Great affordable price point. Value for the money is really good. Love getting nice portraits with it. Very comparable quality to the more expensive 85mm!
A little unexpected
A great lens, period. So why A little unexpected? Don't get me wrong a great lens. It surprised me in that I was expecting maybe a little smaller footprint from the lens. I use it daily. A quality, great lens. If you don't have it you should give it serious consideration.
Issue with image stabilization
I got this for photographing jewelry. The lens quickly had issues, I would get error codes and the image would constantly blip when image stabilization was turn on.
Outstanding!!!
This is sincerely a GREAT lens. I'm super-picky and this is a rare keeper. My 16 and 50 1.8 are pretty good, but this one is remarkable. A rare very high recommendation.
Nice lens for the money!
Purchased the RF 85MM f2 just before Christmas. While I have only used it for a week, the rendering of the images I have taken are excellent. The images are sharp at F2 and the bokeh is very good to my eye. The only downside I noted is that the focus is a bit noisy, but it is quick and accurate on the R6. The reason I only gave 4 stars is the lack of a lens hood.
A great macro lens for my Canon R7
After trying out this lens on some close-up shots (couldn't really call them macro), I love this lens. It's auto focus works nicely, even though I mostly manual focus for macro, it's nice to have that option for other work. It's a wonderful lens for non-macro images as well. It's definitely a keeper!
A very good 85mm lens at a reasonable price
I agonized for a while before getting the RF 85mm f/2 macro. After all I had the excellent EF f/1.2 which I use for portraits etc. But the macro feature and the native mount for my R5 made the RF lens attractive. I have found it is sharp and has good bokeh at a reasonable price. It was worth it.
