Portrait-length prime is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless digital cameras.
Modest-but-bright f/2 maximum aperture maintains an overall sleek form factor while also benefitting working in available lighting conditions.
Macro design benefits working with close-up subjects and provides a 1:2 maximum magnification along with a minimum focusing distance of 1.15'.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to five stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds. Also, a Hybrid IS setting compensates for angular and shift-type camera movements to specifically benefit close-up shooting.
STM stepping motor offers fast, quiet, smooth, and accurate autofocus performance that is ideal for video recording as well as still shooting.
Configurable Control Ring can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Images are super sharp, even at f2 on my R5. Eye AF is spot on. Bokeh is excellent. Great budget lens.

Excellent non L lens for Canon RF mount. Well worth the money. Not too heavy or bulky. Great picture quality. Really affordable when compared to the L version.

These lens are so underrated. One of my go to's during certain events I go to. I have this along with my 24-105 L lens.

This lens makes incredible result for a reasonable price. I think its a must for any camera to get great images with sharp blurry depth of field A bit slow on the macro focusing as said in most reviews but it could be ignored for such a good price comparing the 85mm 1.2 L series

A great little 85mm

I've been able to get some very nice shots with this lens on my R5. What a pleasant surprise it is and quite a bargain when compared to the very expensive RF 85mm f/1.2. I don't know why some people are saying they don't like its autofocus. I haven't seen any issues with its AF. It focuses quickly and accurately for me. Maybe they don't know how to use their cameras. I would post a few photos I've taken with this lens except B&H's photo compression is worse than Facebook's, so I'm not going to do that any more until B&H fixes their processing.

Canon RP & RF 85mm f/2

I needed a lightweight camera for backpacking/hiking. I thought I would give the Canon RP full frame mirrorless a try because it is so light weight. I coupled the RP with the RF 85mm f/2 on a recent trip to Mt. Whitney Portal. I captured some amazing photos of Mt. Whitney during the early Nautical and Civil twilight hours. Temps. around 23 F. and the above package, while light weight, performed great. See attached photos.

Super sharp but slow to focus

I love this lens, it's super lightweight and much better than my EF 85 1.8mm. I initially wanted the Rf 85mm 1.2 but since I don't use the 85 so much, mostly for the bride and groom portraits I didn't want to spend almost 3k with an 85mm. I am pretty happy with this lens and the photos are super sharp. It also takes macro shots which is helpful but not my favorite for macro. It is the loudest lens I have ever had while focusing and I felt like the autofocus was pretty slow compared to my other canon and Tamron lens. I will keep this for now, but I plan on upgrading it in the future maybe for the 1.2 or when the RF samyang 85mm 1.4 when it comes out.
