Really Right Stuff BSL2-LS Overview

The L-Plate for Leica SL2 from Really Right Stuff is an Arca-type compatible L-plate that facilitates easier, more stable switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations. Laser-engraved center marks on the back of the plate help to keep the camera centered when working atop a tripod.

The L-Plate maintains complete access to the battery door and the camera's ports, all without obstruction of the camera's LCD monitor. In addition, this CNC-machined plate has a durable Type II black anodized finish, and a threaded accessory mounting socket allows you to attach a camera strap and carry the camera in comfort.

When describing any device made by RRS, most of us say “…expensive, but worth it!” Both are true. But once a Leica is no longer in production, RRS inventory disappears quick. If you have an SL2 or SL2-S but you haven’t picked up the L-plate, get it soon!

Does the RRS L-Plate have a QD socket on the vertical as well as the horizontal arms?

Yes. Both the base and the L-component of this RRS L-plate for the Leica SL2/SL2-S have QD sockets. Please see the third picture in our photo set.

No, Really Right Stuff L-Plate for Leica SL2 and SL2-S is not the correct L bracket for Leica Medium format S TYP 007 camera. Unfortunately Really Right Stuff does not make a dedicated L bracket for your camera. You will need a universal Large L bracket but it will interfere with your battery chamber and cable ports.

The Really Right Stuff L-Bracket Set for Leica SL2 and SL2-S is made up of 2 components. The Base Plate which goes on bottom of the camera. And the L-Component which is the vertical plate on the side of the camera. One has the option to purchase each individually, or get them together as a set. The L-Component is just the vertical side plate without the base plate. The L-Bracket Set has both the Base Plate and the L-Component.

Does this have a magnet built in to hold the hex wrench? I have read that magnetic fields can play havoc with a camera's electronics

Yes, this has a magnet. As far as we are aware, modern cameras/electronics are typically not influenced/affected by magnets such as these.

Yes. You will need to remove the safety stop screws from the PD travel tripod's clamp in order for this RRS L-Plate for Leica SL2/SL2-S to sit correctly.
