FUJIFILM VG-XT4 Reviews

Great grip for big hands

My big mitts love this grip. Plus it has controls built in. Holding my X-T4 without this grip is awkward for me because of the camera's size and my hand size. It does add a little weight and makes my camera too big to be stealthy. The ergonomics makes me a big fan.

Overpriced

I have this grip only because it was included for free with the purchase of a XT-4 (thank you B&H for that short-listed bargain). I certainly wouldn't have paid full price for a battery holder that doesn't even include batteries.  I'm guessing that Fuji doesn't speak with news guys because the ergonomics of this grip are a partial fail. In the vertical position the hand fits beautifully on the grip but the horizontal ergonomics are just awful. My trigger finger has to fight with the camera strap to find the trigger button. Fuji would have been better off adding a trigger on the top of the vertical part (which should be a bit bigger) of the battery grip. That's where my finger wants to go. I can't stress enough how stupid the horizontal ergonomics are. The moment you pick up the camera it becomes obvious. For me, I feel the only reason for someone spending their hard earned money on this grip is if you are using long or very large lenses... for balance. If you're not using those bigger lenses then you will be more than happy to spend that money elsewhere. Now, I'm hoping Fuji comes out with the full frame equivalent of a 200-400 f4 lens.

Works and handles great

Not necessary but...

Useful for extra battery power when doing long shoots. Feels great in the hand and well balanced when shooting vertical. This is not a necessary accessory since the new battery lasts longer than previous batteries for X-T cameras. The opening clip on the battery compartment doesn't have the spring clip as on X-T2 and X-T3 and I wish it did but it still locks in place.

A bit expensive but great kit

Solid construction tied with the extended battery life it brings is nice to have. If you shoot in the portrait orientation a good bit, its a must have item.

Nice Feel

This product definitely gives your camera a MUCH better feel given that the XT-4 doesn't have a super hardy grip. However, for the price, I'm not sure it's worth the money especially with no battery included. Seems like it sound be more around the $200 range.

Much Needed Accessory

For me, this was a much needed accessory for the X-T4. I love the camera but since the body was so small it always felt like it was going to fall out of my hand because I couldn't get a good grip on it. Also, I was having issues with the 16-55mm lense's rubber grip hitting the mounting plate when using the X-T4 on my Ronin S. This battery grip solved both of those major issues for me.

Nice But Adds Bulk

The battery grip is a nice addition (especially when discounted and bundled with the X-T4) but I find that it adds too much bulk to a perfectly sized X-T camera for my tastes.

Will the camera body charge batteries in this grip when connected to USB-C power?

This battery grip is new and we have not received it yet, so there is limited information available at this time, but from the limited information we have seen online USB-C will charge both batteries in the grip and also the battery in the camera.

What is combined height of X-T4 and battery grip VG-XT4 versus X-T3 and battery grip VG-T3? My measure of X-T3 with battery grip VG-XT3 is 5-3/18 inches or 137 mm. Trying to see if I need to replace traveling case (current tight fit and x-T4 looks taller).
Asked by: Scott
The XT4 with the battery grip is barely taller, not enough to make a difference but it is noticeably thicker.

Reviewer complained that batteries were not included (they never have been), but XT2 and XT3 included the AC adapter. This one appears to NOT include that, correct? I can't seem to find an AC adapter for this at all. Is there one?
Asked by: James
It is on my desk in front of me. As far I can tell, the reason there is no AC adapter included is not because "it is sold separately" but because there is no place to plug one in. Rather, I am given to understand that the batteries in the grip charge along with the battery in the body when the USB-C in the body is used for this purpose. This seems to be verified by the manual that is posted here and gives the total charging time for all three batteries as 330 minutes.
