100 Years of Estimated Archive Life

The ODS-D380U Optical Disc Archive drive unit is part of the Optical Disc family. Use this stand-alone drive and a compatible cartridge to take advantage of extended storage and archiving for all forms of audio-visual assets.

Say Goodbye to Media Migration

Fully backward-read compatible, the Sony Optical Disc Archive drive technology is designed to provide read capability for all generations of optical disc cartridge media. This gives you access to your content for more than 100 years while also eliminating the need for a forced media migration due to media and drive obsolescence.

Reliable and Robust Large-Capacity Media

The drive unit handles a single optical disc cartridge that offers an alternative to LTO or traditional forms of data tape for longer-term archiving of valuable assets. With a low total cost of ownership, the Sony optical disc cartridge offers very fast random access to all content and files. The innovative drive design provides for a 'dual channel' capability. Plus, being file format independent, it can store your assets in a data file format. Sony optical disc cartridges are available in 600GB, 1.2TB, and 1.5TB capacities with re-writable and write-once formats, or in 3.3TB and 5.5TB capacities with a write-once format. The Sony ODS-D380U is read-compatible with Gen 1 to 3 cartridges and write-compatible with Gen 2 to 3 cartridges.

Optimized for Deep and Nearline Archiving

The Sony Optical Disc Archive system is ideal for deep archiving, such as broadcasting archives where data tape does not provide the assurance or meet the need for write-once, very long-term archive requirements. Store a second copy of your archive at a remote site for business continuity or disaster recovery, post house and production back-up, and for video, film, and stock footage archives or national archives. The system can also be used for news and sports clips that need to be near-online (nearline) or as an online browse and proxy clip store.

A World of Solutions

Sony Optical Disc Archive storage ensures fast and reliable access to your data. Plus, easy scalability and a low total cost of ownership make this archiving solution an optimal choice for such industries as digital media asset management, healthcare, banking, education, and more.

Fast Transfer Speeds

Take advantage of read speeds up to 3 Gb/s or write speeds up to 1.5 Gb/s when using the 5.5TB ODC-5500R Gen 3 write-once cartridge. Please note, performance may vary based on cartridge type.
