Really Right Stuff Apex 3 Overview

Get a drop on things with the Ground-Level Aluminum Tripod from Really Right Stuff. The two-section CNC-machined legs have screw-locking knobs that you can disengage to extend the legs to a maximum height of 17.7". With the tripod's variable leg positions, you can splay the legs at four different angles or completely splay them out to a minimum height of 1.6", which is practically on the ground. On the bottom side of the legs are rubber grips to provide traction when the legs are splayed flat on the ground.

Beside the rubber grips, the black anodized surface protects the tripod's finish from scratches and scuffs. The bottom section of the legs reverses to change from rubber tips to stainless steel spikes to manage the tripod on rough terrain or icy surfaces. Large telephoto lenses such as a 500 or 600mm are easily supported with the tripod's load capacity of 50 lb, and the 2.2 lb tripod folds to a length of 12.4".

If you need to work low to the ground this tripod is the one to use. Works great from the bed of a truck too.

The ultimate tripod for macro photography

I have earlier used regular tripod for macro photography. They have worked sufficient but have not been able to go as low as wanted. Also as the tripod legs are long on my regular tripod, it have been awkward to get the tripod in place. I often put my tripod in the dirt, due to the design of the tripod, it is very easy to clean. Really Right Stuff Ground-Level with it short tripod legs, the possibility to work close to the ground, high capacity and robust design makes it the ultimate tripod for macro photography.

I use this tripod for videotaping with a Manfrotto MVH502AH fluid head and a Canon EOS-R camera. This rig sits on a standard height countertop. The height with the legs fully extended is perfect for this application. The setup very stable. It replaces a regular tripod setup freeing up valuable space in the video booth.

Really Right Stuff Ground-Level Aluminum Tripod

I have arthritis in my fingers, and trying to remove the center column in my Gitzo Carbon Fiber tripod was becoming a chore, especially in adverse weather condition where we decided to go low at the last minute. I know I could remove the center column permanently, but I do like the extra stability that I feel it gives me, and I like the hook to attach a camera bag. So, I figured I would try the Really Right Stuff Ground-Level Aluminum Tripod. No photographer wants to drag around extra gear, but this is one great tripod! It fits neatly in the side pocket of my camera bag and it is so easy to set up and flatten down. I am so happy I purchased this tripod!
