I bought this lens last year after acquiring the my A7C. The 20mm f1.8 is outstanding particular for indoor limited light use. I personally dislike using flashes under any circumstances as it proves difficult to adjust (for me) even in post. This lens gives me the freedom to use it for limited light situations and still achieve great results.

Great Lens for Astrophotography, Video, and Blogging

I bought this lens mainly because I needed a Fast Wide Angle Lens (Faster than f/2.8) with minimal distortion and chromatic aberration.
First, the optics of this lens are comparable to the Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM.
Second, the angle of view seems to be appropriate for most Wide Angle needs but it is particularly well-suited for those who want a blogging lens - since this one gives you a few extra degrees of view where you can comfortably fit your face.
Third, the Autofocus is fast and accurate, except under very special circumstances (like low light).
Forth, I love this lens for those situations when I need minimal weight (i.e. when I'm hiking in high altitudes and every extra pound feels like a ton). For this reason, it is also a great lens to be used on a Gimbal or other kind of support devices used by video creators and bloggers.
Fifth, I really appreciate its capability to get very close thanks to its minimum focusing distance.
Finally, the Bokeh is not as 'creamy' as the Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM but it is absolutely satisfying nevertheless.
One minor disappointment about this lens relates to having a very noticeable 'lens breathing' effect. So if you are into pulling focus on videos - you will need to deal with this minor limitation.
This is one of my favorite Sony Lenses, I own and use almost all of the GM series, except for the Super Telephoto ones.
I will soon travel to Bolivia's Uyuni Salt Flats where I will be able to test this lens for Low-Light and Astrophotography.

This lens work perfectly on the a7Rv. AF is very fast and accurate. Tracking and subject recognition work very well, even in low light (e.g. dive bar concerts). Focus is nailed even at the edges and corners. Distortion, aberrations, and flare are controlled so well as to make them irrelevant.
Heavy vignetting

Very heavy vignetting with cold color cast in the vignettes. Vignetting does not completely go away after lens correction in lightroom. Distortion is not good either. In the past, I have been using a Sigma 20mm f/1.4 for Nikon F. In comparison, I was very disappointed in this sony G.

Solid construction, and the fast aperture makes for a great astro lens. I've shot some fun stuff with it so far. It's built solid with smooth aperture and focusing rings, and the balance is there. I like the focal length- I have a 14 that feels overwhelming, but a 35 isn't wide enough. The 20mm rides the fence nicely.
Be warned: when the lens isn't on the camera, there is an internal element that shifts slightly. When attached to the camera, it does not do that, but if you're holding the lens in your hand, you may feel the imbalance.
So far so good!
