Designed for mobile journalists, videographers, and vloggers, the Comica BoomX-D D2 is an ultracompact, true wireless digital microphone system with two microphones and just one receiver. It offers a complete solution for recording dialogue, interviews, and speech with two people talking simultaneously—directly to a mirrorless/DSLR camera or a mobile device.

The ultralightweight BoomX-D D2 consists of two ultracompact clip-on transmitters each with its own built-in omnidirectional microphone and a separate lavalier microphone. It also comes with a tiny receiver that mounts on and plugs directly into your camera. Additionally, the included TRRS output cable gives you the option to plug the receiver into any smartphone equipped with a headphone jack.

The system delivers reliable transmission with a clear sound at a distance up to 164'. The built-in rechargeable batteries provide up to 5 hours of operation. Versatile and extremely easy to use with simple controls, the BoomX-D D2 is well suited for content creators of any experience level.

Two Microphones into One Receiver

  • The two-channel receiver allows you to save space on your shooting rig by using a single receiver to simultaneously receive signals from the two mic/transmitters.
  • The receiver features a belt clip, which also doubles as a shoemount adapter for your camera.
  • In the absence of a smartphone holder, the receiver can also be clamped to your smartphone using the belt clip.

Built-In Mics for True Wireless

  • Each transmitter is equipped with a built-in microphone and a 3.5mm mic input that accepts the included lavalier microphone.
  • For a truly wireless experience, the transmitter can be clipped on clothing without having to wire yourself or your talent. You can also hold the transmitter in your hand and use it as a handheld microphone.
  • The On/Off switch doubles as a mute button.

Lavalier Mics Included

  • For a more discreet setup, use the small lavalier microphone, which can be easily concealed away from the camera's eye.

Plug-and-Play and Easy-to-Operate Wireless

  • This plug-and-play system is easy to use. It comes pre-paired at the factory; connect it to your camera, turn it On, and you're ready to start recording.
  • Dedicated gain buttons on the receiver allow quick and effortless adjustment of the signal level for each microphone independently.
  • The receiver and the transmitters have a display that shows signal strength, audio level, mono/stereo configuration, and battery life.
  • You have the option to switch between mono or stereo on the receiver: Recording in mono combines both microphones on both the left and right side of your audio track. Recording in stereo puts one person on the left and the other person on the right, allowing you to isolate each person's dialog and adjust each level individually later in post.
  • The transmitters and the receiver are powered via a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery. They can also be powered via USB, even while in use, giving you near unlimited operating time.

Monitor in Real Time

  • If your camera doesn’t have a headphone jack, you can monitor your sound via the receiver’s 3.5mm headphone output while recording to ensure that you are capturing a clean signal.

Easy 2.4 GHz Digital Wireless

  • Whereas typical analog wireless systems are susceptible to interference from TV and radio waves, the BoomX-D digital system avoids that by operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, which occupies frequencies beyond those of television, radio transmissions, and UHF wireless microphone systems.
  • The system automatic changes transmission frequency to mitigate noise and dropouts at a line-of-sight distance of up to 164 feet. For optimal performance, environments with limited Wi-Fi/2.4 GHz traffic and minimal physical obstructions are recommended.

These mics have a lot of noise. They pick up interference. They work worse when used at the same time.

Great price, easy to use... UNTIL it cuts out in the middle of a live broadcast, while at the altar, for no apparent reason. Now, for the 5th-6th week in a row. I am getting too old for this! Fully charged, both the mics and the receiver showed they were connected. Not muted. Microphone plugged all the way in. Only way to recover was to turn it off and on. In front of the congregation, and hundreds more on line. Honestly, I do not know what to do. I hate to abandon it after only 6 months, but if I can't trust it, what use is it to me?

Amazing price, great quality, easy to use

The reason I purchased this product was to improve the live transmissions from my church. We had good image, but low sound quality. This was very good solution. If you are not a tech person don't worry, this is very easy to use. Just plug into your cellphone, turn on, that's it. The display is very clean, and so far the battery life is very good too. On the other hand, in regards to price, this is a very good deal. Comparing it to what is out in the market, Comica offers you a lot. Other companies will charge you extra to get their lavalier mic. This comes with two (one for each transmiter), cable for charging, cables for connecting cellphones and cameras, and covers for the external mic that is built in. Overall, this is a great product.

Just plug and use as simple as that

Really Good Mics

We already had the Comica transmitter with the receiver that can be plugged into the camera so adding this to our collection was a must since we can use this receiver for our phone if need be AND use the transmitter with the other receiver for two transmitters when filming interviews. We already knew Comica was a great brand at cancelling the background noise and really giving the subject a clear, crisp sound! It's not too terribly expensive but also worth the investment if you're looking for a good mic at a decent price!

Great signal with distance

These little buggers are a photographer’s best friend. Easy to sync multiple units. Shooting with dslr cameras, the receiver clips right on the hot shoe mount. PLUS it give you the option to record in mono or stereo!!!!

Poor reception and audio cuts

I own both a rode wireless go and comica set. They are used for both video production and during a church service. I want to love them. Having 2 mics makes them a great value and easy for interviews. They include all the accessories in the box. And they have been nothing but a headache. We get regulars audio cuts and popping noises. My wireless go can maintain a steady signal from the church stage to the sound booth about 60-70 ft away, even when using a lav mic with the sender in the speakers pocket. The comicas no way. Even when clipped on the outside of a shirt with clear line of sight, we get cuts and distortion. We started connecting the comica receiver to the snake at the stage and it still distorts and pops and cuts connection when only a few yards away. They have been banned from use in the main service. So what about video recordings? They still keep dropping connecting and introducing weird pops. A couple days ago we did a live stream interview and needed the 2 mics, so we couldn't use the rode. They were mounted on the outside of the speakers' shirts and the receiver was plugged into an atem mini 15 ft away. We had dropped audio and one mic completely disconnected half way in and had to be manually paired to the receiver again. They are a good price, sound good enough, and have an appealing feature set, but they are completely unusable since they keep cutting connection and I am outside my return window.

Can the mic gain be set on the transmitter? Example, set for high gain on a quite source or low gain for recording louder sound? If not, how does the transmitter adjust itself to avoid input clipping?
Asked by: Clifford
The BoomX-D D2 transmitter does not have any controls to adjust the input gain. These levels have been preset at the factory for optimal sound when using either the built-in internal mic or included lavalier mic. You can experiment with mic placement by moving it closer or further from the mouth to achieve the best results for your recording.

Is this better than the BoomX-U?
Asked by: Gwheyohn
Neither unit is better than the other. This unit works in the 2.4ghz range and slightly simpler to pair, while the BoomX-U is based in the UHF frequency range. The X-D would be great for close range quick setups, will the X-U would be great for longer distance interviews in a challenging wi-fi environment.
