Epson P900 Reviews

Do not wait to validate it is working

I purchased this printer new in June 29 anbd received it June 30, 2022. Since I was moving I brought it to VA, where I since moved to and stored carefully with family. I finlly opened the box today, 28 November, 22 and the ink would not go into the printer from cartridge, which seems to be a common occurance sin ce Q2 last year. After working with Tech support for Epson, I am being offered a refurbrished printer for my new one and being told there are multiple disqualifiers (none of which I have done. This is not the way to do business. I do love B&H Photo and have purchased multiple high dollar items and recommend them to all.

Have had this only a week now so not a lot of printing yet but what I have done is very nice. Quality of prints is excellent so far. Very easy set up, at least with a Mac. Screen on the printer walked me through each step and written quick setup: instructions are clear as to what to do and the order to do them. This replaced a P600 that I did not use for a long time and the print heads could not be unclogged. I got the P900 because it brings the cost of ink down, although it is still high, and it has the same footprint and weight as the P600

A great printer for photo printing

This is the 3rd photo Epson photo printer that I have purchased and the best one so far. The only minor problem that I have had is when printing 96# post card stock they seem to hang if I put multiple sheets in the feeder, thus I have to feed one at a time.

After using a 3800 for years with good results, this is such an improvement. I could rarely get the ICC profiles on the 3800 to reliably match output. This printer does it practically automatically. The prints are top notch.

I've had the P-900 for just over a year. I've barely used it, only replacing a couple of original cartridges (until yesterday). Out of the blue 5 of the ink cartridges simultaneously became unrecognizable. Nothing different transpired that would have caused that. I changed all 5 to new cartridges. I went online and did everything recommended - remove all cartridges, turn off , turn on, un plug etc. etc. etc. I called EPSON and they had no suggestion but to drop off unit off for repair in an outlying city. By repair, I’m guessing that means replacing the motherboard $$. As it is I feel like throwing this machine off a tall building. I’ve had this unit just over a year and have barely used it! Good luck - I hope yours works better than mine.

Is all printing borderless? In other words, no margins for signatures, etc? Please explain why?
Asked by: Martin
Borderless is a feature that you can choose to use or not. When printing a photo, many people like to print all the way to the edges, just like how a print from a photo lab looks. Others like to have a white border around their photos. Both options are available on the P900.

I shoot black and white film. How does the print quality of this printer compare to a dark room print specifically for black and white?
Asked by: Bret
The Epson SureColor P900 compares fairly well, if not outperforms dark room prints if used properly although that is always open to subjective opinions. Thanks to its 4 shades of black, it can produce great Black & white prints.

Does this machine have to be connected to the internet to operate?
Asked by: Sarah
It needs an internet connection to update the firmware and software, and also to download .icc profiles for Epson papers. I tried twice to download the updated firmware to my "connected" computer then install it after transferring via USB, but failed both times. However, by connecting the "photo" computer to the internet, it was no problem.
