Epson P900 Reviews

Easy setup and started printing right away. I ordered extra set of ink cartridges but still printing with starter set. 17x22 prints look great. I'm surprised at the limited space the printer takes.

Pleased with New Epson P900 17” Printer

It was easy to set up and is quiet printing. The print quality is so excellent. I used to have the R2800, predecessor to this model, and always had to switch black inks depending on paper finish. Sometimes the printer didn’t register the ink change. This printer has both types of ink and senses which to use once you select the paper type. No cartridge swapping! I bought it to print my photos, watercolors and pastels for greeting cards. I decided on the 19” printer in case I need to make larger prints for myself or other art friends. The ink is very expensive partly because there are 10 cartridges that give more accurate colors. I think it will be worth it though. Im very pleased.

I bought this printer to replace my Epson Stylus 3800 Pro because it had a problem which could not be fixed.I thought that the 3800 was a great printer but I have to admit that the P700 is even better, I am just delighted with this printer.Despite its small size it produces beautiful colors and exquisite black and white.Set up is very easy. All in al I highly recommend this product

Very Satisfied

I have been using this printer for over a year now. Previously, I used an Epson Pro 9900 44 printer. When we moved from Michigan to Brooklyn, I had to downsize. I am entirely satisfied with this new printer. Output is at least equal to the 9900. The P900 is much easier to use and the user interface is easy. Best of all, the problems with clogged jets has all but disappeared. I have had one clog in a year and a half of very occasional use. The 9900 required at least weekly cleaning. To me, the freedom from clogs would be enough to recommend this printer or another in this current generation.

Hopefully the second one works

I'm actually on the phone with Epson as I write this - My P900 never got a print out. After initial charging of the inks, I could see the lines from ink cartridges to print head were all empty. After seven print head cleanings and 2 power cleanings, it was determined by Epson tech support that my unit is faulty. They are replacing the unit with a new model while holding $800 on my card until my faulty unit is returned. I sure hope the second one works! My 3880 never had issues and I really miss it.

Everything's worked great for me from printing holiday cards to large 17x22 posters. Quality of output is outstanding. Cost of inks the only negative.

As usual, another great Epson Printer.

I don't know what one could ask for more in a printer. I have used it for two months now. It is lighter than the P800 it replaces and has a few improvements both in construction and software (too many to list here--read the reviews). Auto-switching of inks MK and Pk is, perhaps, the best improvement. The print quality is amazing. The roll paper attachment hooks on easily and is simpler to use than the P800.

Good Quality Prints

I have had this printer for 4 months now and I am very pleased with the quality of the prints and how frugal it is with ink. Coming from an old Epson 7600 24 inch printer I realize how much less substantial this printer is. On the other hand, the printer being light weight means that I don't need someone else to help me move it. In fact, that is one of the reasons I bought it instead of the Canon Pro 1000. I do think that the roll paper adapter for the printer is a joke and over priced. I wish there were a way to use the roll paper feed without the adapter. Now for the negative and why I cannot give the printer 4 star. Any paper that is not flat has a difficult time getting through the printer without having problems. This seems only to be a problem with sheets that I have cut from a roll that still have some curve. I need to make sure to get the paper perfectly flat. Some people have complained that when multiple sheets are loaded the printer sometimes has problems. Not much of a problem for me since I mostly feed one sheet at a time something I had to do with my 7600 since it was primarily designed to use roll paper. Finally, I do not expect the P900 to last for 15 years as did my 7600. And I am annoyed that Epson has made it almost impossible to use 3rd party inks in the United States.

Is all printing borderless? In other words, no margins for signatures, etc? Please explain why?
Asked by: Martin
Borderless is a feature that you can choose to use or not. When printing a photo, many people like to print all the way to the edges, just like how a print from a photo lab looks. Others like to have a white border around their photos. Both options are available on the P900.

I shoot black and white film. How does the print quality of this printer compare to a dark room print specifically for black and white?
Asked by: Bret
The Epson SureColor P900 compares fairly well, if not outperforms dark room prints if used properly although that is always open to subjective opinions. Thanks to its 4 shades of black, it can produce great Black & white prints.

Does this machine have to be connected to the internet to operate?
Asked by: Sarah
It needs an internet connection to update the firmware and software, and also to download .icc profiles for Epson papers. I tried twice to download the updated firmware to my "connected" computer then install it after transferring via USB, but failed both times. However, by connecting the "photo" computer to the internet, it was no problem.
