The product was delivered on time and professionally and the communications were above and beyond. B&H even sent me a separate email notifying me and reminding me that my purchase qualified for a $200 rebate with Epson. Highly recommend! You are appreciated. Oh.. as for the P700? Exceptional. We absolutely love it.

Good printer at first, but didn't even last a year

By sscarter

I bought this printer less than a year ago and used it to print about 50 holiday greeting cards on 305gsm, matte paper. It worked very nicely, feeding the paper flawlessly. I don't use this printer frequently, so I print a Print Head Nozzle Check once a week to keep the ink nozzles clear. When I tried to print more of the greeting cards again recently (same paper) I found that the paper pickup would not feed the paper. The pickup roller just spins on the paper, leaving a dark skid mark. I don't understand why the same paper now won't feed. Perhaps the pickup roller has dried out after less than a year? In any case, when I read the Epson warranty, it specifically excludes pickup rollers from coverage. So, I now have a very expensive, useless, brick with some very expensive, useless, spare ink cartridges (did I mention it goes through ink pretty fast?). Ugh. Be very careful if considering this printer.

Well Designed Printer

Traditionally I print with Canon ProGraf series printers. I needed another printer for a project and decided to give Epson a try. I have been very impressed with the print quality and design of the product. It was actually kind of fun to look through the clear plastic cover and watch the printing. This was a good choice.

Watch the video on line first

After watching the video online it was smooth going. All the questions I thought about had been answered in the video. There were no questions unanswered. The only issue I saw was the inability to download the firmware updates. It was not that it was difficult but it was difficult to get to that process. Once done with the two updates, it was smooth sailing. The only problem after that was upgrading MAC to a more powerful machine with faster graphics, faster processor,

Working great

I have had it for a couple months now. It been working much better then my only p600. This one does not constantly clog and waste ink. I think that one may have had an issue from the start. The colors have been beautiful and I love the seprate ink channels for photo and matte blacks. I like the new menu system. I do think the check nozzles menu is a bit more confusing and you might accidentally select that it needs purging when it doesn't. I have not had that issue yet but I could see it happening.

I've made a mistake

By John

Now that I've printed a bit, I can express my opinion of the P700.  First, the bad. I made a big mistake. Somehow, while looking at the specs of the P700 and P900, I mistakenly concluded that the printers used the same ink cartridge. That is one of those inexplicable brain malfunctions that sometimes happen in life. The cartridges for the P700 are half the size (25ml vs 50ml) and 86% of the cost of the P900 cartridges ($37.99 vs $44.00). Horribly, insanely, expensive. Priming the printer ink lines uses most of the ink in the P700 ink cartridges that come with the printer. I've already had to buy a complete set of the P700 inks so I can get on with printing. If the ink cartridges were $25.00, I would be quite happy with my purchase in spite of my error. The P900 gives you a larger printed area AND it is much more cost effective when it comes to purchasing ink––albeit at a larger initial purchase price. The Good. The prints are fantastic. The printer is very quiet compared to my old 3880. The addition of the violet ink has made the reproduction of certain colors much more pleasing. The prints really are good. The printer is slowish, but I print one photo at a time, often switching papers between images, and I'm in no hurry. I give it four stars because of the print quality. It lays the image down on the paper beautifully. If I ignore the print quality, I would give it one star for the predatory pricing of the ink. Some day I will need a new printer. Because of the outrageous price of the ink for the P700, I will look at Canon first. I tend to be brand loyal, but $37.99 for 25ml of ink? There is no excuse for that kind of pricing. So, quiet printing, terrifically good prints, bank robbing ink price. If you are considering the P700, buy the P900 instead. Sit down and add-up the price of the P700 and the price of a complete set of ink for it. You will need it shortly. You are very near the price of the P900 with the larger, less expensive ink cartridges. Remember that the P700 cartridges are HALF the size of the P900 cartridges and much more expensive per ml.

If I know I will not be using the printer for a month or two, is there a way to protect the printhead from drying out?
Asked by: Natasha
While I do not have this particular Epson model, if the printer is in a low humidity environment it helps to keep the printer in a higher humidity environment. One way is to have a plastic bag that completely encloses the printer when not in use and keep a tray of water or wet towels inside the bag. Monitor the humidity inside the bag with a humidity meter and try to keep it up at 60% to 75%.
