Intel i9-10900F Reviews

Nice upgrade

I upgraded from an i7 hex-core year 2016 processor to this one. This new one made a big difference in performance of compiling times for both software and video editing. My computer has that whole new feel to it performance wise. I expect to continue using this one for at least the next four years - worth every penny of the investment. This processor boasts 10 cores (20 with hyperthreading turned on). Clocks in at 2.81 GHz (I don't overclock - I want reliability) 640kb L1, 2.5mb L2, and 20mb L3 caches. Overall I am very satisfied - almost two months of use (I keep my computer running 24/7 for various home automation tasks) and no hints of problems. I use the stock cooler fan that came with it - and the average core temperature stays between 30-40 degrees Celsius, and peaks to about 80 when running heavy processing applications.

So far so great

I wanted the high core count for gaming and streaming in a mainstream socket and had already a bad experience with a Ryzen 9 3900x that died from a month of usage so, to avoid that, I decided to switch to Intel. I also don't care about achieving the highest clock speed so the non overclockable version was fine for me. So far so good, hardware monitor reports idle at 4.6Ghz and turbo up to 4.9Ghz on 4 cores while running warzone at 144fps and streaming on obs at slow preset and resolution 1600x900. Sometimes I get 2 cores at 5Ghz. It gets up to 80C with a 240 radiator cooling it. But thats not as hot as my ryzen used to get. Overall is a good processor. At the time of purchase it was at the same price as a new Ryzen 9 3900x. Is it better than AMD counterpart? For productivity task, no. The lesser core count makes it worse performing (although not bad) at that. For gaming? yes. The higher clock speed will get you higher fps.

excellent performance, especially with PL1 limit raised!

amazing performance and i saved a few bucks because its a locked/non GT version since i had a PCIE card. PL1 limit increase turns this into a beast matching 10900k

Fantastic choice

First CPU upgrade in 7 years. Coming from a I7-4930K to this new I9-10900F and can instantly feel the difference in processing speed. Encoding videos with software such as Adobe Premiere Elements are a blaze with it's 10 cores. Did not need to overclock and did not need the K version of this CPU. Well done Intel!
