just mount and shoot! if your camera is in the 16:9 mode, the picture on the preview screen looks almost like with a normal lense. in post, you'll desqueeze and baam.. got the cinematic look. only one downside, you'll need a diopter and an adapter ring to shoot close ups.

An anamorphic lens is an essential tool for anyone seriously interested in shooting video, and the Sirui 50mm is an excellent choice for the price. Using it on my Panasonic Lumix G9, I've found it works very well for both stills and video.

For the price, the quality of the image is outstanding. It gives you this cinematic anamorphic Bokeh that makes all the difference. If your camera can correct the 1.33x distortion it will make your shots even more enjoyable. My Atomos Ninja can easily do it.

I love shooting with this thing. Gives all of my work a fun twist and makes a visually interesting picture. It may not be perfect, but its character delivers so much.

This is such a fun lens! You can get some really fun looks from it, and the clarity is pretty solid. Granted, it's no GM glass, but still high quality and I use it for high end creative projects.

Recently did a music video shoot mostly shot with this lens, and reviewing the footage made my jaw drop. The separation between subject and background is so beautiful. Add a pro mist filter and it feels like a true pleasing "cinematic" image that is difficult to explain in words. The flaring is there but not exaggerated, you really have to try to get the flares which I like. I was bummed it's not a 2x squeeze, but honestly it's kind of perfect for what you get at 1.33x. If you're looking to get into anamorphic without breaking the bank, I would highly recommend this lens.

Pardon my ignorance. Everything I've read about anamorphic says that 1.33 is not strong enough and that 2x is needed to get the true anamorphic feel. Now, you add the 16x9 aspect. So does the 1.33-1 lens provide a greater squeeze in the 16x9 aspect or is it still just a 1.33-1 squeeze?
Asked by: Jim
You will want 2x if your intention is to achieve more intense flares. But for the purpose of achieving a 2.40:1 ratio within a 16x9 frame, then the 1.33x will do just fine.

What is the focal length of the Surui 50mm with the open gate 6.2k of the Fujifilm XH2s?

When recording with the Fuji XH2s the full sensor is used. There is a 1x5x crop with APS-C sensor so the Sirui 50mm lens would provide a 75mm view.

I hear this lens has a blue color cast, will that be a big issue if I use auto white balance?
Asked by: T
This lens produces very desirable anamorphic blue flares (streaks) These artifacts are utilized most famously by the director J.J. Abrams. It does not create an undesirable blue cast that covers the entire frame.
