Set the foundation of your next custom gaming-focused PC with the MAG B550 TOMAHAWK AM4 ATX Motherboard from MSI. The motherboard is ideal for the gaming enthusiast who wishes to have complete control over their build. The AMD B550 chipset sets the foundation of your build giving you get an AM4 CPU socket, four dual-channel DDR4 RAM slots, six SATA III ports, and two M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slots all working together to give you enhanced system performance. Further expand the capabilities of the MAG B550 with one PCIe 4.0 x16, one PCIe 3.0 x16, and two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots allow the installation of graphics and utility cards.

You can utilize six USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and Type-C ports for resource-demanding devices such as external storage or microphones. Another six USB 2.0 Type-A ports are available for low-resource devices such as keyboards and mice. Two Ethernet ports can work together for faster bandwidth speeds as well as provide teaming capabilities. This motherboard is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit) operating system.

Embracing the ever-growing culture of custom PC building, the MAG B550 is clearly designed with easily accessible and defined ports. A Keep Out Zone ensures case standoffs don't interact with electrical components while installing, keeping your motherboard safe from accidental short circuits. An enlarged PCIe clip helps eject graphics cards without damaging any components. An EZ Debug LED system indicates the sources of possible problems, notifying you if any errors exist within the CPU, DRAM, VGA, or Boot system. You can even switch this function off if you wish with the flick of an on-board switch. A BIOS flashback button allows you to quickly go back to a prior BIOS version, allowing you to continue gaming within moments.
Performance and Protection
MSI designed the MAG B550 with a mindfulness, starting with a six-layered 2oz thickened copper printed circuit board which increases conductivity and improves heat dissipation. A 10+2+1 Duet Rail CPU power system utilizes phasing technology, enabling core boost capabilities that empower the processor for overclocking, while reducing electrical loads. Load-line calibration and overvoltage protection stabilizes CPU voltage and protects critical components from short-circuiting under heavy operational loads. ESD protection provides additional grounding layers around the mounting holes, preventing potential static discharge from damaging the motherboard. Additionally, the PCIe slot features steel-armor covering, preventing the weight of heavy graphics cards from affecting the motherboard by heavily reinforcing soldered connections.
Performance Boosting Technology
Lightning Gen 4 works with the two M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slots to provide you with enhanced data transfer speeds up to 64 Gb/s, improving loading times and general operating system performance. Audio Boost also provides studio-grade sound for immersive gaming experiences. Game Boost is a quick one-second enhancement that allows your system to enable overclocking with just the press of a button. HDMI and DisplayPort outputs allow up to 4K resolution depending on the CPU installed.
Thermal Solutions
MSI provides multiple thermal solutions to keep your motherboard and components cool as you game. Pump fan support allows you to attach various water-cooling systems while also reducing radiator noise. Extended heatsinks and cooler pads provide better heat transference through the board, reducing temperature throughout the system. The M.2 Shield Frozr is a specialized heatsink designed for M.2 PCIe NVMe solid-state drives, preventing damage caused by overheating. A 7W/mk thermal pad provides better heat transfer, adding another layer of elemental protection.

With the LAN Manager, you can prioritize your games over other applications, adjust bandwidth properties, and run multiple tests to ensure optimized gaming performance.
