Projection Print Calculator Scale 4x5" is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Seems expensive for a little piece of sheet paper. but it is well ingineered. You are guaranteed to get a good exposure after proofing with this calculator. I did. I am not an expert so I decided to give this a try and I got perfect exposure so I am keeping it. However, if you need more control of more shorter steps , particularly in small enlargements with big appertures, this may not serve. A traditional strip may be more appropiate for these, However, when I was enlarging a 11x14 this did the job with one shot. Conclusion it is a good tool to keep in your arsenal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality varies I teach a photography course where students learn to develop film and prints. I think this is a great tool to use, however as I have ordered these over the years, I notice that the quality varies. If I compare all the calculators I have, not one is exactly alike! If this is supposed to be calibrated then each one should match. I have one that gives a very obvious incorrect reading so based on using this particular calculator, the student's final exposure is wrong. It is a good product for the most part, but consistency should be maintained.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maybe I'm using it wrong I'm inclined to give this 1 or 2 stars, but since I've only used this a handful of times (and I'm still relearning all of the darkroom techniques I've forgotten since college), I am giving it 3 stars in case I am using it incorrectly (or expecting too much). When I heard about this type of product, I was excited because it sounds like a really useful tool for the darkroom. But I've found the results are not consistent with the prints I am making from it. For example, if I use this and determine 32 seconds looks like the proper exposure time, and then I make a 32-second print (without modifying anything else in my setup), the images do not match up. It's decent to get a general idea of exposure time, but it's not as useful as I'd hoped. You're better off just using the tried-and-true method of test strips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from special ed accomodations I am working with a student JAC, in photography 101. Working with manual cameras, B&W, processing film and prints. He has little understanding of time. His use of the projection calculator has eliminated the need to log exposure times, it is obvious from the test strip the correct exposure time, and his selection for the best print .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deja Vu Had one of these, or one much like it, years ago. The amateur's perfect tool for ballpark calculations within the amateur's price range (i.e. next to nothing).
