It does what it should. I would rate it excellent except that it is over priced compared to the CFE Type B cards. Sony has a virtual monopoly which doesn't make this customer happy.

I purchased the Sony 80GB CFexpress Type A TOUGH Memory Card for my Sony A7IV. Works flawlessly. I was able to take hundreds of photos and shoot several 4K videos with no issues. Uploading the photos to my hard drive was super quick and seamless.

No buffer problems at mid range continuous shooting speed on my Sony a7 IV. I also have a Lexar SDXC V60 II card for back up, which hit the buffer limit a couple of times when I first started using it.

Good but overpriced. So far, no competition and Sony doesn't show any signs of lowering the price. I wish they would have selected the type B.

Completely unjustified

I switched to Sony from Nikon last year because of a few bad experiences with Nikon customer service and was not expecting to run into the staggering price tag for CFexpress-A cards when CFexpress-B cards are twice as fast and half the cost. Further, I was hoping to see type A cards decrease in price as the platform increased in popularity, but this hasn't even begun to occur. I could justify this price if, and only if, Sony managed to crank the read/write speeds up high enough to validate it. I bought a couple ProGrade 160gig cards on special for when I need to shoot at higher cycle rates, but otherwise, sticking to SD cards.

I used to hate dumping footage. Now, I have the whole crew gather round and watch in awe at the speed of this footage transfer. You get what you pay for with these. Steep price=steep speeds.

Expensive, but reliable!

You get what you pay for. This card is crazy fast, reliable, allows all forms of recording, and is cute to look at. When it comes to media cards - I personally don't mess around. You spent all that money on that camera, and it needs solid media to record to without fail.

Asked by: Colton
Yes, you can use that card to shoot, 4K120 S&Q XAVC S-I on the Sony a7S III. Note 4k uses a lot of memory. You might want to go with the 140GB version. Or at least two of the 80GB version.

Will this card work well with a Sony a99ii and with the RM10M4 cameras?
Asked by: Dennis
No, it is not compatible. The Sony Alpha a99 II DSLR Camera uses SD/SDHC/SDXC (UHS-II) and Memory Stick Duo Hybrid (UHS-I) memory cards. The Sony Alpha a99 II DSLR Camera is not compatible for use with CFexpress Type A memory cards. While I am not familiar with the RM10M4 you listed above, if you by chance were referring to the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 IV Digital Camera, it uses SD/SDHC/SDXC/Memory Stick Duo Hybrid memory cards, and would also not be compatible for use with the Sony 80GB CFexpress Type A TOUGH Memory Card.
