Over priced and did not sync with my mac computer. Spent too much time with B&H and with apple tech support trying to make the think work. It is being returned. On the advice of B&H, I bought the cheaper apple card reader and that worked fine.

Sony card reader does the job

I originally went by price and bought the Lexar CFExpress Type A card reader. I have been extremely satisfied with Lexar products in the past. Unfortunately the card reader overheated and fried my docking station. The card reader was so hot that I had to use a pot holder to get my card out. Fortunately, the card was fine. The Sony card reader worked well. It only got a little warm. My only complaint is that it takes a little effort to put a SD card in the reader. I'm sure that I will get better with inserting SD cards over time.

Transfer speed would be determined by the USB-c cable so if it's the same cable and same cards - no difference

I was testing the Sony MRW-G2 with the Sony 160GB CFexpress Type A on my computer and uploaded 100GB of data to it using USB 3 on Windows 10. My upload speed averaged150 MB/s, and my download speed averaged 500 MB/s. USB-3 supports 625 MB/s, and my hard drive is 2000 MB/s. Why is the upload speed so slow?
Asked by: Diane
If you are connecting to a hub between the computer and the reader that slows down the transfer rate. Also check the cache that your SSD has. If the cache is 2GB but you are transferring 256GB once it hits 2GB the transfer rate will slow down a lot. SSD vendors always advertise their performance based on the cached area. They never advertise the performance based on writing 256GB of data in a cached area of only 2GB.
