Beyond Stabilization
The DJI RS 2 is a redesigned follow-up to the Ronin-S gimbal with a payload of up to 10 lb. It's about 25% lighter and more compact thanks to monocoque carbon fiber axis arms and a shorter grip handle with a smaller battery cartridge. The motors are about 20% more powerful and can support larger cameras such as the Blackmagic Pocket 6K, Canon 1D X Mark III, Sony a7S III, and ALEXA Mini LF.
Upgraded Movement and Control
  • The DJI Titan stabilization algorithm provides improved stabilization with increased smoothness. In applications with up to 100mm zoom lenses, a built-in feature called SuperSmooth complements the algorithm by compensating for micromovements and increasing torque to achieve fluid motion (an optional lens support is required).
  • The RS 2 also has a 1.4" full-color LCD touchscreen that allows you to access gimbal settings as well as features such as time-lapse and hyperlapse, which were previously accessible only via the companion mobile app.
  • The companion iOS/Android Ronin app offers many creative features in addition to standard time-lapse and panorama functions. Time Tunnel combines roll motion with hyperlapse to "twist" space and time. Track allows you to create a repeatable camera movement path for a tightly choreographed shot. Force Mobile makes the gimbal follow your smartphone's movements.
  • Force Mobile can also be achieved with enhanced responsiveness when you use the optional DJI RavenEye 1080p transmission system. With the RavenEye system, you can also display a live view of your subjects on the touchscreen when using the RavenEye's ActiveTrack feature.
Expand Your Rig with Compatible Accessories
  • There are two RSA ports with electrical contacts for dedicated accessories, and each port has a NATO mount for quick release attachment of these optional accessories.
  • One RSA port is provided on the left and one on the right side of the gimbal. Supported accessories include a focus wheel, a twist-grip dual handle, and a universal mount for efficiently attaching the gimbal to a car, jib, or slider.
  • A mini tripod is included and attaches to a 1/4"-20 thread on the bottom of the grip handle to function as a stand or an extension handle for two-handed maneuvering of the gimbal in certain scenarios.
  • The RS 2 comes with a splash-proof carry case designed with dedicated compartments for the different parts of the gimbal and key accessories.
Compatible Cameras
For a full list of compatible cameras, please see the most current compatibility information on the DJI website.
Intuitive Camera Adjustment
  • The RS 2 uses a dual-layer Manfrotto plus Arca-Swiss camera mounting system with two removable quick release plates.
  • For social media content, the gimbal can be adjusted at the tap of a button to position your camera into portrait mode.
  • To let you efficiently balance your camera, the RS 2 has an axis lock on each axis, so you can unlock and balance one axis at a time.
  • A fine-tune balancing knob allows you to further dial in the optimal balance for your camera.
Fast Charging
  • The gimbal runs for up to 12 hours on a battery cartridge that secures to the included grip handle. The cartridge can easily be swapped out for another one, sold separately.
  • The cartridge is rechargeable via a USB Type-C port on the grip, and the grip can be totally removed from the gimbal when you need to recharge the battery. The BG30 grip is compatible with the PD and QC 2.0 charging protocols.
  • DJI highly recommends using a separately available 24W charger. The battery supports 24W fast charging and can be fully recharged in about 1.5 hours.

Replaced the DJI RS (1). Much lighter and easier to balance. Simply a joy to use with my Z6, BMPCC 4k, and BMPCC 6K pro.

Just wow

I've owned gimbals since the first dji mobiles to the DJI ronin 1 ronin m the ronin mx. The payload is basically the same as the MX but super compact. With an easily accessible touch screen designed with ease in mind, and the super fast connection to the ronin app, it's firmware updates are a breeze in comparison to other competitors out there. (Zhiyun etc)

Won't work unless you have an iPhone or iPad.

The gimbal requires activation via Bluetooth to a mobile device to even power on out-of-the-box. This, of course, requires the installation of the DJI Ronin mobile app. Scanning the QR code in the manual redirects my Android phone to directly download an .apk file to side-load the app. This is completely unprofessional and sketchy, as it bypasses all the security reviews needed to publish an Android app in the Google Play Store. No thanks, especially given DJI's questionable reputation for privacy and security. Searching for the Ronin app in the official app store, shows it's riddled with 1-star reviews, all claiming that the app won't detect the gimbal. This was my experience as well. So now I have a completely useless $900 gimbal.

Couldn't be happier!

I've been using the ronin s constantly and then renting the RS2 occasionally over the course of the last year. Decided to just purchase the RS2 to have it full time and I honestly couldn't be happier with it. The ronin s can barely hold my bmpcc 4K and can't even handle the bmpcc 6K. The RS2 handles it like a champ! I'm constantly discovering and playing with new features it offers, like the raveneye and forced mobile (which is definitely improved from the ronin s) and I love it. The focus wheel is perfect for handheld and then I can still use a remote focus for car mounted shots. I've been pushing it to the limit the past few weeks and it's held up great! Highly recommend!

Not Compatible with Canon C70!

I was advised by a B&H rep that the DJI Ronin RS2 would be compatible with the Canon EOS C70 camera. On first try setting the two up I discovered I needed a screw adapter to successfully centralize the camera mount. Then I discovered the camera connection cable between the RS2 and the C70 is not being recognized by the gimbal. Sadly I am not able to use any of the RS2 gimbal functions because this connection is not being made. I reached out to DJI customer service where a DJI rep said that the C70 is NOT compatible with the DJI RS2. In a prior DJI customer thread there was talk of a new cable being developed for this issue but the DJI rep said 'I am sorry we don't have the plan to release a new firmware or developing a third party cable to make them become compatible at present.' I had to return it. B&H should not recommend this gimbal for C70 owners in the future so other people do not have to go through this disappointing hassle.

Checks so many boxes but missing critical controls

After about a decade of operating one-hand gimbals, I have a good idea of what matters for the advanced user. Most gimbals nowadays will do what you need if you never push them hard with big payloads, long lenses, and tricky shots. This is where they are differentiated. After over a year of using the RS2 I realize all the cool new features are meaningless if the control system gets in the way of operation. Unfortunately DJI removed the follow sensitivity setting, dumbing down the follow speed settings entirely to speed and deadband, which is sort of fine if you only ever do linear speed pans or slow push-ins, but terrible if you want to use long lenses or do smooth dynamic moves. Medium speeds are too jerky to start and low speeds are too slow to be useful unless dialed for the exact move you're doing. On the ronin-s and my 4 gimbals before it I used to be able to set my sensitivity and deadband very low and speed high and get super smooth moves at any speed I wanted without changing any settings and never have jerky starts to a pan. Now I have to ride the speed between takes which is impossible to change in the middle of a shot and still it is very inferior for anything but linear movements with no speed changes or stopping or starting pans. Hopefully DJI fixes the software of this gimbal to be at least as good as many of the gimbals that came before it. I can't recommend it for an advanced user, only maybe for amateurs who can't tell what they are missing but straying from default settings, but unfortunately many of the latest generation of gimbals each have their own issues.

Will the 'Sony PXW-Z150' compatible with this stabilizer? And can you start/stop camera recording with the RS 2?
Asked by: Paul
No, you will not have the camera control from the RS2 with the Sony PWX-Z150. The RS2 is only compatible with Sony mirrorless cameras for the camera control. The Sony PXW-Z150 might be too big to fit on the RS2, it won't be able to balance properly.

I’m not sure about the C300, but I fly my C200 on it with the EVF and a 24-105 lens. I think C300 may be pushing it. Maybe rent the gimbal on sharegrid and test it?
