Freewell All-Day VND Overview

This 62 Freewell All-Day Variable ND Filter Kit is assembled to provide you with variable neutral density adjustments throughout your production day. It includes a Freewell 62mm Standard Day Variable Neutral Density 0.6 to 1.5 Filter and a Freewell 62mm Bright Day Variable Neutral Density 1.8 to 2.7 Filter. Both filters are designed to mount onto lenses with 62mm front filter threads and provide an exposure reduction of 2 to 5-stops and 6 to 9-stops, respectively.

Freewell Standard Day Variable ND Filter (62mm, 2 to 5-Stop)

This 2 to 5-stop, 62mm Freewell Standard Day Variable ND Filter is designed to mount onto lenses with 62mm front filter threads and provides an exposure reduction of 2 to 5-stops. Its 0.6 to 1.5 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally possible. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, helping you to predetermine the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field or add motion blur. For easier, repeatable control over density settings, the front ring is visually demarcated with numbers representing the different stop values and features side knurlings to further enable fast and precise positioning.

This filter is constructed from Schott B270 glass for enhanced clarity and color fidelity. Each glass surface is multi-coated to help eliminate internal ghosting and reflections. The Freewell 62mm Standard Day Variable Neutral Density 0.6 to 1.5 Filter is also coated for resistance to oil, dust, and scratches, offering greater protection to the filter and helping it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The coatings are hydrophobic as well, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to apply differing amounts of density from scene to scene.
0.6 to 1.5 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally possible.
Providing a reduction of 2 to 5 stops, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Offers increased flexibility to use specific ISO settings or ISO films under bright ambient light.
Provides increased exposure flexibility while using cinema or video cameras within a designated film frame rate.
Constructed from Schott B270 glass for increased optical clarity as well as color fidelity.
Multi-coated to prevent internal ghosting and reflections
Coated for oil, static, dirt, as well as scratch resistance and provides an improved beading effect with water for more efficient cleaning.
Aluminum alloy filter ring assembly for durability while remaining lightweight.
Side knurlings along the front filter ring allow the filter glass to be easily rotated.
Front filter ring is visually demarcated with numbers to help ensure that its rotation corresponds to the filter's exposure reduction range.
Includes storage case, magnetic lens cap, plus a microfiber cloth for cleaning and maintenance.
Freewell Bright Day Variable ND Filter (62mm, 6 to 9-Stop)

This 6 to 9-stop, 62mm Freewell Bright Day Variable ND Filter is designed to mount onto lenses with 62mm front filter threads and provides an exposure reduction of 6 to 9-stops. Its 1.8 to 2.7 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally possible. can you attach another filter like a blackpro mist or moment cinebloom?
Asked by: adrian
Sadly, no. You cannot attach anything onto these because they dont have a thread on the outside. This is because of the magnetic lens cap, which I absolutely adore.

May i know what is the full diameter of the filter for 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, and 82mm?
Asked by: Direk
Sorry I can't measure precisely but the system is no larger than standard filters. The diameter is about 2mm larger than the thread size and flush with the lens barrel. The magnetic system is built in to the rim of the filters so it does not take additional space.

Is this VND "clear" or "off" before turning to position 2 or higher?
Asked by: Bradford
No. There is no way to turn it "off". The minimum filter factor / density would be 0.6 / 2-stops and 1.8 / 6-stops.

Would I be able to stick a magnetic mist filter to the front of one of these??(A 95mm magnetic mist filter to 95mm vnd one?)
Asked by: Elvin
While the Freewell 95mm All-Day Variable Neutral Density 0.6 to 1.5 and 1.8 to 2.7 Filter Kit (2 to 5 and 6 to 9-Stop) do work with the included magnetic caps, there is no guarantee they will work with a magnetic filter.

What about vignetting with a sony gm 16-35mm lens ...

What about vignetting with a sony gm 16-35mm lens ?
Asked by: Joaquín
The 16-35mm GM already has a slight vignette at 16mm if you shoot RAW with profile corrections in-camera turned off. If you enable it, the vignette would be removed. Alternatively Lightroom/Capture One automatically removes it with the profile corrections it has. The filter itself is very well made and will not cause a vignette.

Are these stackable?
Asked by: Benjamin
According to Freewell it is not recommended to stack these as it and cause vignetting. Technically speaking it is possible, not recommended.

What is included in the box beside the filters and the cap? How do you clip the filters to the lens? Does this purchase includes something like a base magnet ring?
Asked by: emiliano
Beside the filter and the magnetic lens cap, cleaning cloth and case is included. It's a screw in type lens so it has thread that connects to the lens. Only the lens cap is magnetic.
