The lightweight and durable LS-255CEX Ranger Series Carbon Fiber Tripod from Leophoto differs from other Ranger Series carbon fiber tripods due to its incorporated leveling base. Offering a maximum ±15° of tilt, the leveling base feature makes this tripod ideal for shooting video and panoramic photography. The tripod head can be adjusted for horizontal orientation after the tripod has been positioned for the shot without having to individually adjust the legs.

Leofoto LS-255CEX Reviews
Very travel friendly and light!
One of my favorite carbon fiber tripods so far, and getting the camera down to the ground as low as possible and still having very little flex is a must for specific situations. The legs come out smoothly, and each section stays put, so it doesn't rotate 360 as I screw/unscrew the knob. It seems unimportant yet it makes this tripod easy and quick to use. One of the details I love about this tripod is the column has a spring-loaded latch where most tripods are either not spring loaded but if so, you have to keep pulling the tab in position to set the angle of the legs. But with this Leofoto, there's another latch built within so if you pull the latch all the way, it locks into place so from a folded position to opening all the way to 90 degrees, it stays put. The latch then automatically snaps back into place which is a wonderful design. This is one of the best tripods for its price considering how well it travels with the head ball head screwed off and fits inside my Monos Carry-On luggage, yet it extends tall enough I can use this for most shoots! It's very stiff so I've not had any issue with it vibrating or notice anything wrong even with a slightly windy condition here out in New Hampshire! I'll probably get another one down the road when I'm using my video slider with it's versatility.
Compact, Tall, Stiff, Always Level, Nearly Perfect
This is the second Leofoto tripod I've owned and it has the same high quality fit and finish I've come to expect from this brand. It's nearly as nice as a Gitzo in terms of fit and finish and in my opinion, there is no other tripod brand making designs as innovative as Leofoto at the moment. Not Gitzo, not RRS, not Manfrotto. I needed a compact tripod with a leveling base that could fit in a carryon bag without wasting any space. This is that tripod. This particular tripod attracted me for its integral leveling base and travel friendly size. I'd recommend this particular model for most medium size kits. The 5-section CEX models with the leveling base have a really good folded to extended length ratio. This model has relatively narrow 1 diameter legs, making it exceptionally compact at the expense of a little stiffness, so that's a consideration. If you want to support a really long lens, I'd consider their stiffer LS-365 CEX, LS-324CEX, LS-284CEX or LS-285CEX, which all have larger diameter legs. The LS-255CEX is only 18 folded (fits easily in a carryon bag) but almost 56 when deployed, which puts my camera exactly at my eye height when used with my standard ballhead (I'm 5'7 / 170cm). I've found the built-in leveling base to be the killer feature of this tripod. Since it's integral to the tripod, the apex diameter is very compact, and that makes the overall tripod so much smaller than most system tripods with a 75mm video bowl and similar leveling base. The leveling base lock and the leg locks all require only a small 1/4 turn to unlock and lock, making it really quick to deploy and collapse. Overall, this is an easy 5 stars and has only increased my confidence in Leofoto as a tripod manufacturer.
Lightweight compact!
I am quite happy with the features of this tripod. It is stiff and stable, despite the light weight. The leveling base works well. Folded up the diameter of the 3 legs is easy to stow in a backpack side pocket. No center column to remove for ground level shooting.
Excellent compact hiking tripod
I love the built in leveling base. It's a quality product. I own RRS, Feisol, and Induro tripods too. Compact size is great with excellent stability and vibration control for its tiny size. In spite of no center column, this tripod gets a few inches taller than most in this weight range. The Only improvement I would make is a larger bubble level. For extra compactness, I sometimes just use a small pano clamp on the leveling base instead of a ball head. Generally I shoot with a Sony A7R iii and the 24-105.
