Defective and Corrupt

I bought this Angelbird 1TB (2 Pack) for my new Canon R5 with the most updated firmware 1.5.2 and while testing the first card I was getting a lot of corrupt video and raw photo files. Weird large pixelated areas, some photos with completely missing parts of photos and different color blocks over areas. I formatted the card 3 times to try and fix the problems and also a failure to connect. fyi, both cards had to be formatted to initially work. After the issues with the first card, I initiated a return. Out of curiosity I tried the second card and after recording two 3 minute 8K raw videos and while recording at 2 min of 4K HD video the card crashed. I could not access anything on the card or format it. I do not suggest anyone buy these 1TB cards.

I bought the card last month on heavy discount for 550$, but now I got to know why such a huge discount. I used the card for the first time today and made a FHD video not even 4k in my Canon R3 and tried to play right after I shot which I usually always do on my other cards..to my shock camera freezes for 10 sec.. I made a very small clip and this happened, i tried again cpl of times and result was same..I changed the card and it was working fine with other card. I am a Professional and I tried all possible troubleshooting but result was same.. Don't buy..go for a smaller memory..

Not fast enough for Z9 8k60 N-Raw

Based on the advertised sustained write speed of 1,000 MB/s this should be able to handle the Z9 8k60 High Quality N-Raw which should end up being ~750 MB/s. The best I've been able to sustain with this card is 8k50 Normal Quality N-Raw which is ~375 MB/s. Very disappointing that it doesn't appear to meet the advertised specifications. I've been able to succeed with another card at the highest rate so I know it is possible.

I picked this up when B&H had it on sale the second I saw it. Hands-down this is one of the best cost/gig high end cards out there. I never ran into issues with startup in my R5 (mine did turn out to have the latest firmware, confirmed after acquiring the Angelbird reader and checking.) I did, however, have seemingly random file corruption issues that would manifest when trying to copy large batches to my computer. Out of, say, 300 photos, one or two would be corrupted in a way that caused the copy process to hang up and freeze entirely. After some quick troubleshooting (verified firmware of the card, multiple card readers, camera firmware, etc.) Angelbird did not hesitate to initiate an RMA. Once the bad card was received by their US RMA location in Florida, I had a new (upgraded model) replacement in my hands in less than a week.

MK1 version not compatible with Z9, get MK2 version

If you want to record 4.1K120 or higher in N-RAW (NEV) with a setting of N-RAW Quality High, you will run into issues with this (MK1) version of the card. (They were on sale for a reason!!) You will get Recording Interrupted stop errors. You must use version MK2 to resolve the issue. I've reached out to Angelbird to see if there is any resolution for MK1 owners. Also note, you must have the $80 Angelbird card reader to update firmware on these cards, you cannot use an Atech Blackjet Thunderbolt 3 reader, or a Delkin reader, or a Sony reader, it must be the Angelbird version according to the firmware update installer which requires the Angelbird's reader chip. The MK1 is great for still photos though.

Will this work with RED V-Raptor / DSMC3?
Asked by: Philipp
No. None of Angelbird's CFE Type B cards work with the V-Raptor "currently" (as of 11/23/21) according to Angelbird's website. This is extremely frustrating since Angelbird is the manufacturer of the RED branded cards. My guess is some kind of anti-compete agreement, because there is absolutely no reason why these shouldn't work. More RED memory shenanigans if I had to guess.

Is this card good for Z9? No heating issue for long video period? Many thx.

I just tried one of these in a Nikon Z9 and it couldn't record over 4k 60P. 8K 60p and 4K 120P would only record 1-2 seconds before it would show a warning and end the clip.

Do these cards cause a 5 second delay on startup or wake up on the R5?
Asked by: Chris
It is extremely important to understand, that with a firmware update that occurred in January of this year (2021), that the small starting delay of approximately 5 seconds with the R5 that was reported by customers like me to Angelbird, is totally gone. The Angelbird CFexpress Type B cards, sold since January no longer have any delay whatsoever, and if you have an older card, installing the firmware will cure any delay. THERE IS NO LONGER A DELAY ISSUE! My 500GB card works extremely well in my R5.
