Such a useful range of focal lengths for shooting everything from landscapes to portraits. Great image quality from this lens too. Used it to photograph Old Faithful and got great pics!

FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 Mechanical Extension Stiff / Resistant

Image quality is very good. Light weight / compact lens with limited zoom range. Mechanical operation feels cheap and low quality. Mechanical operation when extending for use is stiff and resistant. Resistant / jerky feel when twisting the zoom ring. Will not get much use (definitely would not recommend).

i am a little not experienced with sony lenses. But, I have to say, I expected more. The mechanism opening the lens each time before using it is a bit sticky. Looks like it needs some lubricant. It will take some time getting used to.

A great little lens. Compact, well built, sharp images, good colors, and swift and silent AF. Pairs well with the A7c. Its small size does not draw much attention when out and about. Not perfect. Compromises were made in focal length and aperture at both ends. But well worth it if purchased with the A7c kit.

Great Small and Lightweight Lens

I Just got the Sony A7IV and wanted a small and light lens to use for hiking and backpacking etc. I have been fairly impressed by the sharpness and quality of it for its size and weight. Don't expect it to match the GM lenses or anything, but for the intended use I am quite pleased. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Pros: Small and light (5.9 oz / 167 g) Good Sharpness/Color/Contrast etc. Quiet and fast focusing Basic weather sealing Decent zoom range (specially considering the size and weight of it) Cons: Not the best in low light (that should be expected with f/4-5.6, one should note, it's only f/4 at 28mm) Price - (better if you get it as a bundle/kit) Zoom action could be a little smoother - though, seems to be improving with some use. Misc: 28mm = f/4 29mm - 34mm = f/4.5 35mm - 41mm = f/5.0 42mm - 60mm = f/5.6 Dimensions Retracted 2.6 x 1.8 / 66.6 x 45 mm Length at Maximum Extension 2.73 / 69.3 mm Weight 5.9 oz / 167 g

A nice small travel lens

One reviewer asked, who is this lens for? Me for one. I mostly used this lens on my a7Rii during a month-long driving trip from NM to Washington state and back to document what we were seeing along the way. I mostly shot 18 MP JPEGs because, in my comparison to similarly composed compressed raw images using this lens, the only appreciable difference is the ability to bring out slightly more detail in dark areas of the raw files. Other lenses I own produce more detail from this 42 MP sensor raw file (e.g., 20 mm f/1.8 G) and I will continue to use these lenses whenever potentially producing art is a goal. But when my goal is to have a small walk-about travel lens to document where I have been and seen, this little gem of a lens has found a permanent place in my bag and on my camera. Another reviewer asked, is this the best standard kit zoom ever? This lens just might be the case for Sony cameras.

A lot of bang from the money

Speaking simply, this lens is far superior than the old 24-70 kit lens from Sony. The optical performance is honest for the price, it focuses fast and it's incredibly light. No 5-star rating for the following reasons: - No 24mm, shame on you Sony. - Awkward filter size, with absolutely no reason. - No OSS, but I can live with this. This lens is great for travelling. It's unobstrusive and compact.

Yes, it is an E mount lens and will work, however it is for a full frame camera and so the effective focal length will be similar to a 40-90mm.

No, this lens is not weather seal. The rear mount open as you zoom the lens out and you can see all the electronics inside the lens. Also dust and water can easily go in between the rings on the lens if the unit is not protect against the element.

Why? This is not meant to compete with anything else. It is made to be tiny, compact and easily ported with minimal weight and size. Pocketable? I had the version for the NEX series years ago and it was sharp enough then though it broke down after a couple years and could no longer be recognized by the camera so it was worthless
