How do I get this to control my red dsmc2 gemini?

How do I get this to control my red dsmc2 gemini?
Asked by: Jordan
The monitor can be used with optional paid software upgrades that enable camera control access to RED DSMC2 and KOMODO cameras. These software licenses allow users to control camera functions and project settings such as Start/Stop Record, FPS, Shutter Speed, ISO, Color Temperature/White Balance, and Clip Playback. But you need to have the DSMC2 control license firmware.

If you send this monitor a 4096x2160 signal it gets a gray line right through the middle of the screen. Turns out is can only handle a 3840 x 2160 HDMI input signal. Is there any workaround - so if i Need to shoot in the bigger 4k size and not see a gray line right down the middle?
Asked by: Jeremy
Almost all cameras have the ability to change the output resolution independently of the recording resolution. For example, you can tell the camera to output 3840x2160 (or even 1920x1080) and this will have no effect on your ability to record 4096x2160.

Does it come with the power cable or what type of cable do I need to purchase separately for powering via battery plate?
Asked by: Yifei
Whether or not a power cable is included is not explicitly defined by the manufacturer and since this is a new item that, as of this writing, is still unavailable to us, we have no means of physically verifying this. However, for power options, one may use the following L-series dummy battery to AC adapter option: https://bhpho.to/3fuTnSz

how can I power this monitor with d-tap? I have a v mount battery with d-tap output. I do not want to use batteries. Thanks
Asked by: Mateo
Yes you can. You need to use the SmallHD D-Tap to L-Series Dummy Battery Cable (32") (BH #SMDTSLFB • MFR #PWR-ADP-SONYL-DTAP) This cable has 1 end that attaches to the battery slot of your monitor but draws power from the D-tap of your V Mount Battery.

Anyone know of a cage that will fit?
Asked by: Jay
That depends on your application. While there are no customized cages for the Indie 7 just yet if you are interested in a director's cage there are a few options that are adjustable to different monitor sizes. A few examples are the: Wooden Camera Director's Monitor Cage v3 with Dual Carbon Fiber Handgrips B&H # WO270000 MFR # 270000 Hollyland Monitor Cage with Rubber Handgrips for 5 to 9" Monitors (V-Mount) B&H # HOMNTRCAGEV MFR # MONITOR CAGE-V E-Image Director's Monitor Cage with Rubber Handgrips B&H # EIQ100 MFR # Q100

The SmallHD Website says it covers 100% of Rec 709, but 75% of DCI-P3, is there a typo in your specs?
Asked by: Louis
DCI-P3 is a larger color space than Rec 709 with slightly different primaries. Most display panels are designed to represent one color space accurately, although some can cover nearly 100% of both Rec 709 and DCI-P3 (just not this one). So no, not a typo. However, also not an issue unless you are shooting specifically for theatrical release. Most consumer products are designed to emulate Rec 709.

is there latency with the sdi loop out?

is there latency with the sdi loop out?
Asked by: Nikolai
There is always a chance of latency depending on what kind of SDI cable you're using, how far you're running it, and what device you're sending it to, but that latency should remain low - maybe a few frames - and not be affected by looping the signal through the SmallHD INDIE 7 Touchscreen On-Camera Monitor (BH #SMMONINDIE7 • MFR #MON-INDIE-7).
