The first answer provided is vague: it implies a co-mingling tighter on the iExpand drive of all the files from the source devices (ipad and iphone) into a single blob of data. The answer should have been more refined: ie wether the sandisk app made it possible to have separate profiles / root-level folders segmented by device. At that point, it should be possible to utilize aliases in order to have a certain subset of some files from one device listed in the directory/folder of another device (just as it would in any user-controlled administration of the file system). Hopefully the moderator can post a follow-up cksrigucayion on these two points! :)
