An effective take on a popular focal length, the Sony E-mount AF 35mm f/1.8 FE from Samyang is a wide-angle prime mixing a lightweight and portable design with a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture. The optical design incorporates a two extra-low dispersion elements and a pair of aspherical elements, which help to suppress both chromatic and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness, color accuracy, and clarity. An Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to reduce flare and ghosting in order to achieve higher contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. The lens's linear STM autofocus motor works in conjunction with Sony cameras' AF systems for quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance, and manual focus override is also available for more refined control. Additionally, a Custom Switch enables making intuitive adjustments of a variety of camera and exposure settings by rotating the lens's focusing ring.

Samyang AF 35mm f/1.8 Reviews
Sharp and Smooth Lens
The lens gives you the same type of look as the Sony 35mm. This is a reliable brand!
1 Year Tested
I bought this lens in January of 2022, and it stayed on my A74 until December of 2022. It was a great lens! Coming from the Canon RP paired with the Samyang 85 1.4, this lens with the A74 auto focus was spectacular! A night and day difference! My favorite quality I loved about this lens is the lens flare. There is something magical about it. But, shooting into the sun can cause a green ghost flare. This lens will still be in my kit for black & white photography and for my 2nd camera body.
Can't beat the light weight
Compact, light, big enough aperture and good image quality. This has been my everyday carry since over a year ago, for photography or videography.
Front focus issues
Bought this lens for how light and versatile it appeared. Sadly it had a lot of front focusing issues as well as AF issues. I had a difficult time reading faces. I wanted this lens to.work, but it wasn't for me.
Extremely Versatile Lens
Not a professional photographer by any means but I am very pleased with this lens. It's extremely versatile for the detail driven automotive photos I take, compact and at a great price point. Highly recommended if you're still using that kit lens!
Small, light and excellent sharpness
See Dustin Abbott or SonyAlpha blog for the details. It is a winner and the lens that stays on my Sony A7iv most often.
Must buy on sale!
Bought this used, 10 Good as new, on B&H for a great price. Got it and sure enough like new, retail box included, etc. Tested it out immediately and quickly determined it to be a keeper. Surprisingy fast AF and Quiet! Very sharp wide open, particulary in the center, with the edges being a bit soft as expected. Stopped down to f4, 5.6, and gets noticeably better on the edges and very sharp in the middle still. Really nice and light too. Custom switch is nice to adjust aperture or switch to manual focus. Anyway, at about a third the cost of Sony's FE 35mm f1.8, I highly recommend this Samsung AF lens. Come on Sony, you can do better pricing on a standard F1.8 lens. Do it!
Great lens!
Like my 2 other Samyang lenses, the 24mm 1.8 and the 45mm 1.8, this lens is fantastic! Fast autofocus, and beautiful imaging. Love the cases Samyang includes with their lenses as well!
