The Shure SRH840 are closed-back, over-ear professional monitoring headphones tuned to provide high-quality audio reproduction for critical listening during recording, editing, and mixing. Lightweight and sturdy, the headphones can also fold down for easy storage and transportation in the included carrying bag.
The SRH840 have large 40mm drivers that deliver a broad frequency response of 5 Hz to 25 kHz for rewarding bass, intelligible mids, and extended treble. The closed-back, circumaural design helps reduce ambient noise and the thick replaceable earpads yield long-lasting comfort. The wide headband is adjustable and generously cushioned to ensure a pleasing fit on a range of head sizes.
The coiled, single-sided cable allows a variable amount of slack, resists tangles, and can be detached for easy replacement. It has a bayonet clip to keep it securely attached to the earcup. The gold-plated 3.5mm TRS mini plug and 1/4" adapter enable compatibility with MP3 players and mobile devices as well as DJ mixers and audio interfaces.

Shure SRH840 Reviews
great tuning
Bought these on crinacle's advice. These are incredible value at msrp but insane value at $80. Slight v shaped tuning makes them a very enjoyable listen. Recommend replacing the stock earpads though.
Foldable design is great
Not as comfortable as my DT770s but they fold up really nice for packing. I have a set of 4 of these so that travel with me for podcast recording sessions.
Great Sound, Uncomfortable for Pointy Skulls
I bought these with the idea of having a pair of headphones to leave at the office. The sound is amazing and I agree with Crinacle's headphone list but if you have a pointy head, you /will/ get a hot spot that makes them uncomfortable to wear for extended periods. I would strongly suggest two things: a) get a replacement headband pad that has a notch in the middle - stick it to the current pad via some means (gaffer tape, glue, whatever) and b) get a shorter 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable as the 8 footer that comes with these is not good for casual listening (but is likely just right if you're monitoring while singing or playing). I have the Beyer DT770 Pro and the Senn HD6XX and these SRH840As are in the same league with a smoother, less sibilant sound than the DT770. If you need closed-back and want a great-sounding set of headphones I would give these a listen.
Really love these. Just get 'em.
I think this headphone is a real bargain and perfect for tracking and you can also mix with them (yes, even though they are closed backs). I like them better then my ATH m20 and, well, just different then my Sony 7506, They isolate really well, are comfortable, and have a solid frequency response all-around. The construction is good and excellent extras like pads and carry case, not as portable as some headphones but still portable enough for me. Detachable cord is great too, comes with a coil type but that doesn't bother me.
Steady selling monitoring cans
SRH840 is a steady-selling monitoring headphones having flat feature! B&H sells these at very good price!
Great Deal
B&H's price for these headphones made the purchase a no-brainer. I am partial to Shure and figured I could return them if they didn't work for me. I w t be returning them! Out of the box the headphones look, feel, and perform very well. They deliver Shure's trademark balanced sound, which may be a little bland for some ears. When I used my streaming service's EQ functions, though, they really got fun. Don't sleep on this deal.
Great phones
Amazing sounding headphones. First thing I did was put on an old jazz recording FLAC from a live concert in the 70's and the soundstage is so good it felt like I was really there at a live performance. Separation is great, signature is balanced and accurate. Great deal if on sale for $80.
