DJI Ronin RSC 2 Overview

The DJI RSC 2 Pro Combo packs additional accessories with the RSC 2 gimbal, allowing for a more comprehensive workflow. A key addition is the DJI Ronin RavenEye Image Transmission System, which allows for 330' 1080p video transmission from the gimbal with a latency of only 50ms for on-set collaboration. The other extra accessories are a focus motor, phone holder, two focus gears, and three HDMI cables for use with the RavenEye. Also included are a carry case and a metal mini tripod.

The DJI RSC 2 is designed for mirrorless and DSLR cameras and supports up to 6.6 lb camera and accessories loads. Please see the most current camera and lens compatibility list on the DJI website.

The motors of the RSC 2 are 50% more powerful than those of the Ronin-SC, which is the predecessor of this redesigned gimbal. A key feature of the RSC 2 is a foldable design that allows switching to underslung mode.

The gimbal head folds down from the gimbal handle, and you can then flip the gimbal around and use it underslung for low-angle shots, without having to attach or detach anything. The gimbal handle remains integrated and has built-in batteries that provide up to a 14-hour runtime. Also, the batteries can be charged via the handle while the gimbal is being used in operation (except in extreme high/low temperatures). The handle supports PD and QC 2.0 fast-charging protocols and can be recharged in approximately two hours using an 18W fast charger, not included. The foldable design of the gimbal also allows for easier transport and storage.

The RSC 2 also features a 1" OLED black-and-white screen and has a horizontal dial on the front for focus adjustments with the same hand you hold the gimbal with. On each side of the gimbal handle is a NATO mount with M4 threads for attaching dedicated accessories such as an optional briefcase handle.

The RSC 2 uses the DJI Titan stabilization algorithm, an improved version over their previous one that provides better stabilization and fluidity. There's also a built-in feature called SuperSmooth that complements the algorithm when working with up to 100mm zoom lenses. SuperSmooth compensates for micromovements and increases torque to achieve smooth motion with long lenses.

The gimbal has a dual-layer Manfrotto plus Arca-Swiss camera mounting system with two removable quick release plates. For social media content, a tap of a button positions your camera into portrait mode. The RSC 2 allows a total of six different configurations and comes with a companion iOS/Android app that provides access to features such as time-lapse, panorama, and Roll 360, which rotates your camera continuously along the roll axis. With the included RavenEye transmission system, you also open up the ActiveTrack 3.0 feature for subject tracking from the gimbal, and an enhanced Force Mobile function that increases responsiveness and decreases latency while providing a live view.

The included metal mini tripod attaches to a 1/4"-20 thread on the bottom of the grip handle of the RSC 2 to function as a stand or an extension handle for two-handed maneuvering of the gimbal for certain shots. Camera control cables are also included that allow for control of select cameras and functions directly from the gimbal controls.

Note:
DJI recommends using only the dedicated Ronin quick release plates for mounting a camera and an 18W USB charger for fast charging of the built-in battery.

DJI Ronin RSC 2 Reviews

Pretty neat

This gimbal is pretty neat. I bought it with my Sony a7III, Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM Lens & it doesn't work how I want it to but I'm guessing it's because of the weight. Would recommend for the use of smaller & lighter cameras.

The DJI RSC2 is a workhorse. I had the gimbal out today for several hours. The battery is amazing. I went through 3 batteries in my camera while using the gimbal, but the gimbal's battery was still at 75%!

Lighter than the Ronin S

This is so much better to work with than the original Ronin S. While the weight capacity is lower its much easier to use over long periods with how light it is.

Rave Review for the DJI RSC @ Gimbal Stabilizer

A well durable and easy to use gimbal stabilizer. A well worth purchase and an easy positive review for both B&H and DJI.

Difficult to use after setup

By Steve

I think that it would be fair to say that the issues that experienced with this RSC2 device may be unique to the one that I actually received (or user error) as I am well aware that many others have raved about this device, which is in part why I purchased it. It just doesn't sound like this is going to be my story. Even with a verified proper balance and setup it consistently goes wonky and loses control of pan and tilt and the recorded footage turns out as a disaster. I am therefore returning this device for a full refund.

Don't buy the pro version if you shoot on Sony

Loved it, I won't go back to regular handheld after using one! Unfortunately the Raven Eye doesn't work well with SONY cameras. Also, the app doesn't work with Android 12 yet . I'll be returning the pro edition for the regular RSC2 since I shoot on a Sony a7s3 and have a google pixel 6

Better than DJI Ronin S

There's a sense in which a gimbal is a gimbal, and the smoothness you'll get in newer gimbals will be pretty much the same as previous ones-but maybe a tad better. This is why the most important thing when it comes to gimbals is functionality and ease of use. IN this regard, this little gimbal is a joy to use. It's super easy to use, the new lock mechanisms make it really portable and easy to put away.

Will newly announced Nikon z9 along with Nikkor 14-24 s 2.8 balance on the RSC 2. The total payload is around 4.4 lbs around 2lbs under the rated payload for this gimbal ?
Asked by: Supriyo
The total weight of the camera and lens may be under the limit but you should also consider the geometry of the camera. Larger camera and lens packages are harder to balance in a small gimbal. I would recommend getting the larger RC 2.

Will a Canon R6 with Rode Micro mounted in the hotshoe clear gimbal?
Asked by: Stephen
In order to clear the roll axis arm, we recommend using a cold shoe extender that shifts the Rode VideoMicro to the left side of the camera. If you are using cage, you can attach a cold shoe with a 1/4" 20 screw.

This gimbal has a 6.6 pound load capacity. You will be able to balance and shoot with the D750 on this gimbal with the proper lens. However it does not offer any control over the functions of the camera.

Yes! You can use the phone to control the gimbal's movement with an on-screen 'joystick.' There is also a feature that uses the phones gyroscope to mirror the movement of your photo to the movement of the gimbal. Pretty cool stuff.
