I understand there are reliability issued documented on the internet on both the 2 and 4 TB SanDisk SSD's. Had I known that before I bought my 4TB drive, I would have chosen a different manufacturer. So while it is performing flawlessly I will enjoy it and hope the failure reports are overblown.

Beware, don't buy the Sandisk SSD's. They are infected by a bug, Sandisk has partially acknowledged the issue. They released firmware for some as well. I had 2 SSD's both stopped working on just on the same day just like that, lost all of data, spent $'s unsuccessfully to recover data, Sandisk customer service was not helpful at all, I spent days trying to find my data from old backup but I still lost last 3 years of data since when I started using these SSD's. never going back to Sandisk SSD, there are other options in the market.

This is such an amazing SSD. I use it almost every time I shoot on set, and it pairs super well with my BMPCC6k!

While I appreciate the price, size, and speed of the devices, I encountered an issue on the first day of testing as the device unexpectedly disconnected twice without a clear cause. Upon consulting with B&H's staff, I discovered that a number of these SSDs have been facing malfunctions, especially with larger capacities and iOS systems, for a considerable duration.

I have a Mac Pro 2013 Late computer. It has 6 Thunderbolt 2 ports and 4 USB 3.0 ports. I do photography and one file can be nearly 1.8GB. Thus I want an SSD 4TB drive external to store AND work on images with Photoshop. Will this 4TB SSD drive work with my computer? If not, is there one that you suggest? I looked for a Thunderbolt SSD that interfaced to TB 2 but all I found was SSD's for TB 3. Thanks

According to tests by Blackmagic it is not. They only recommend this SSD for ProRes Recording up to 4K DCI 60p

Does the read/write capability have anything to do with video playback performance when video editing? Or is the speed advantage basically limited to the file transfer stage?

Yes the speed of this SSD mainly when reading files will provide smoother playback. Both playback and file transfer will be assisted by the fast speed of this SSD.
