SanDisk Extreme V2 External SSD Reviews
Highly Portable, Fast, Bus Powered
I'm mainly a video shooter. I bought 4 of these drives (on sale!) for downloading camera cards in the field. They are fast, silent, and so far, reliable. They work so well I decided to keep one on my desk for editing smaller projects. (iMac/FCPX) So far, so good. The only negative is also a positive: They're tiny and easy to misplace.
Worth switching over from a conventional Hard Drive
Small. Fast and worth evert penny. I will eventually replace all of my Buffalo drives.
Fast and reliable
I got this drive just about a year ago and have already bought more because these are the fastest and most compact external drives I have ever used. The case is strong and has a nice feel to it and the provided cable fits snug in my devices without any wiggle. I have edited 4k videos from this drive and have not had any issues. Highly recommended.
Small, Fast, and Portable
The form factor is smaller than a cell phone, making it perfect to carry in my laptop bag. The USB-C connection and solid state drive was also a welcomed upgrade from my previous USB 2.0 backup drive.
Super lightweight yet durable!
The title of my review says it all. But i also want to add that this is fast and reliable. I had only bought samsung T5 and T7s before this but when I got this I was impressed at how small they managed to make this. Yes, they are smaller than the T7s!
Best SSD portable drives
I've had Version 1 of this drive and used it for a couple of years. It works fast and flawlessly. I use it to edit my videos in 4K. i own 4 of these. Usually when I have finished a project, I transfer the files from this drive to a regular Sata 2 drive for storage. i never tested their waterproof or shockproof capabilities (would not on purpose). This disk is highly recommended. The prices had been multiplied by 3 lately but fortunately, i took advantage of a BH photo promotion to buy a couple at their original price.
Excellent as Always
This is my second Sandisk SSD and as always they perform flawlessly and quickly.
Great value in a portable SSD
With the price of disks always declining, I was able to buy this for the same price I paid for the 1TB version two years ago. What I like in particular about the Extreme V2 is the high transfer speeds do not suddenly drop when the internal cache is full. To get maximum speed, make sure you connect it to a port that supports 10Gb/s USB3.2 gen 2 speeds. I did try it with a cheap passive hub that only supports 5Gb/s USB3.2 gen1 and the transfer speed was indeed cut in half. Because it uses an NvMe drive rather than a 2.5 SATA, it's really tiny. Like all high speed devices these days, it does get quite warm in use but not enough to be uncomfortable to pick up. The included USB-C cable is very short, about 6, but does come with a C to A adapter included. Reliability of the 2 year old 1TB Extreme V2 has been excellent, I expect this to be the same. Overall I'm very pleased. I'd recommend this over the popular Samsung T7 drive.
