I have so much music and visual data that I've got half a dozen drives hanging off my MacBook Pro M1. Best price and fastest shipping. Can't beat that.

Beware if using with a 2022 MacBook Air M2

I've used this drive for six months with no problems, and it connects via USB C to my iMac and MacBook pro -- all Intel machines. However it won't connect to my new 2022 MacBook Air M2 via the USB C port. After several hours on the phone with both Apple and SanDisk support, nobody can figure out the problem. Cables are fine and it still connects to my other laptops. Very frustrating as I have three of these devices and none of them will work with my new MacBook.

Avoid at all costs right now, there's a bad batch of these going around, with total data loss occurring.

2TB, plug it in and it works. Super small and silent as well. It transfers files quickly too. What's not to like.

Bad luck

First time I used it it's crashed. I tried to reuse it but I was asked to format it. I lost everything that took me hours to transfer. I have to return it as soon as I return home.

1) Would this be compatible with taking memory from a "computer for older persons" that runs on Linux? 2) If so, could that data be transferred to a MacBook Air 2019 with Catalina so that the documents might be printed on a good printer?
Asked by: Anne
For Linux and Mac cross compatibility, you would simply need to format the drive into the ExFAT File System on either machine.

Is this drive formatted out of the box for a Windows PC? If I use it with a PC to backup photos while traveling, can I then plug it into my Mac at home to copy the photos to my Mac-based home system? Thanks!
Asked by: troy
No, this drive is not pre-formatted. If you would like to use the drive with both Windows and Mac computers then the best format to choose is exFAT, which will be able to work with both operating systems.

Can anyone weigh in on sustained read/write for applications like video editing?
Asked by: jacob
I've done a fair amount of Final Cut Pro X with this drive. No complaints here. Without moving parts, any SSD drive should perform much better than a standard drive. I have one for photos and one for video editing. When the video one fills up, I dump older projects onto an 8TB standard drive.
