Note: To achieve maximum advertised speeds, please make sure your computer or host device is certified to support the 20 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connection. Apple devices, including those with Thunderbolt/USB4, do not support 20 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 and will be limited to 10 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2.

The Sandisk Exteme PRO SSD is designed to run at faster sustained speeds and be able to handle many more read/writes, not necessarily cooler. You will get the full speed of this drive when you connect it to your Thunderbolt 3 port on your 2017 iMac Pro.

Yes, Thunderbolt3 is backwards compatible with USB-C speeds and will be able to connect in the TB3 port. You should get USB 3.2 transfer speeds.
