I tried using this SSD with a MacBook Pro 16 (2019) running Monterey with 64GB RAM. I transferred a little more than 1GB of data to it after formatting the drive and it lost all of my data by the next day. Then it was quirky trying to get the drive to connect. Despite using professional software to try to restore my data, it was a total loss--none of the data is usable. Sadly, I didn't backup the data before transferring it to this drive. I bought two 4TB drives and the second one is just as quirky. Run away from this product!

The SanDisk SSD has a track record of spontaneously failing. SanDisk did provide a firmware update, but when I plugged in my serial number, the installation software said that no update was needed. A week later, the SSD failed completely, deleting all of my images.

drive failed in less than 4 months

I am a wedding photographer and was using this as a back up drive to my work and it failed, stopped being able to access the files lost all access to 4 months of my work, thanks god this was just my back up.

I bought two of these for a live event and needed to record the switched version to an external hard drive. Thank God I bought two. I back up footage every night and I'm glad I did. When I got them home, one had died completely. No wonder the price was so good. Buyer Beware!

I have bought several of these and they have worked very well. This one worked but suddenly wasn't recognized by my computer. A second drive I bought at the same time also failed. Western Digital has been good about replacing the drives.

Yes, I do exactly this and am extremely pleased. You may want to opt for the slower 1050mb version as Macs currently dont support the usb 3.2 2x2.
