Fun Camera

Easy to handle for my large hands and easier to walk around with for street photography. Looking forward to traveling to National Parks in the west next spring. One of the reasons i purchased this model was the dual SD card slots which will allow more storage capacity for RAW photos.

Five Stars

Previously had a Nikon D 70 that for a recreational photographer was perfectly adequate. After many years of reliable use, needed a new Nikon -- was recommended the NikonZ6ii -- with the 24-200 mm lens. This is a fantastic camera -- exceptional color, tone, image quality, focus, detail, ease of use -- the list goes on. Serious amateur photographers, professionals -- this is a phenomenal camera. Highly recommended !

Excellent low light capability

This is my first mirrorless camera. I love it. I use it primarily for landscape and astrophotography. I chose it over the Z7ii due to this body's improved low light capabilities, including the larger pixel pitch and lower noise. I enjoy it so much that it has inspired me to try my hand at other forms of photography. Besides using it with my telescopes and Z 14-24mm S, I now own the Nikkor Z 40mm, 24-70mm S, 85mm S, 105mm S, and have the 70-200mm lens on order. It's been a lot of fun! I've even been trying my hand at indoor flash photography. This is a very versatile mid-pro grade camera.

Focus Beast

Like everything that is created by men, it isn't perfect, but maybe perfection is the goal and rather then destination. Allow me to explain :) After 3yrs of heavy use of z6 I felt it was the right time for an upgrade. The downside, is that I got buy additional bells and whistles which I really didn't need. The other downside is that third party lights don't work in TTL mode. The lens is nice, but I never took it out of the bag. The bag is nice but I never took it out of the plastic. But the camera - that's the upside... Besides the obvious 2 cards and newer hardware, the BIGGEST advantage is the focusing speed and capabilities. I often work with kids and families, kids move around a lot and working with z6 was a huge advantage. The focusing speed of z6ii, I feel is nearly as 2x as fast as z6. Adding eye/face, is a huge advantage, especially when the child turns. Another advantage is focusing during low light. I often photograph couples outdoors and use continues nlight for those scenarios. Having a camera that can catch and grab the focus faster and more accurate (then z6 for example) is a huge advantage and keeps the clients happy - ESPECIALLY in the colder weather. Despite few nuisance that I personally have with this purchase, at no time would they drop my rating and i stand firmly behind this. I'd go for 10* but that isn't an option.

i have a 15-30mm g2 and 70-200mm g2 from tamron w/ my d750. is it worth it to sell my whole kit in favor of a new purely mirrorless setup? should I just upgrade the body and get the ftz adapter so I can keep my lenses? or should I just upgrade to something like the d780/d850? i mostly shoot weddings but sometimes do sports and filmmaking on the side. thoughts?

Is the lens that comes with the Z6ii body/lens kit the same lens that sells for almost $1000 if purchased separately.

The lens included with the purchase of the Nikon Z 6II Mirrorless Digital Camera with 24-70mm f/4 Lens and FTZ Adapter Kit, B&H # NIZ622470LAK, would be the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens, B&H # NIZ24704, which, as of the date/time of this reply, is currently $996.95.

Can you use aps-c lenses with this camera?
Asked by: John
Yes you can! The camera will automatically crop in to give you the APS-C framing. When this happens you do lose resolution. If you are using a F-Mount APS-C lens make sure you have the adapter.

How does the Z6II compare to the D500 for focusing on random moving targets like birds?
Asked by: David
I wouldn't sell your D500 before comparing for yourself. Spec sheets with new technology won't answer that for you. My early tests still give the advantage to the D500 for BIF at the moment. The Z6ii does show moderate improvements over the Z7 for portrait autofocus (which can be more or less important to you depending on how you shoot).....but I'm not selling my D500 yet.
