IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine (ft) Overview

Internally, nine blades produce smooth, rounded bokeh for natural-looking out-of-focus highlights. To help eliminate aberrations and distortion, the IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens is constructed with 15 optical elements in 11 groups, including three HRI (high refractive index) and two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements. A Multi-Start Thread focusing mechanism delivers quiet, precise focusing even in wet or humid conditions or in extreme temperatures. This lens has 180° of focus and 75° of iris rotation and it incorporates an 86mm front filter thread. Four seals protect against inclement weather and dust.

Cinematic Look

The IRIX Cine 15mm is a wide 43.3mm full-frame lens that uses 15 optical elements, including three high refractive index (HRI), two extra low-dispersion glass (ED), and two aspheric (ASP) elements, to create crisp cinematic shots in resolutions up to 8K while keeping the focus breathing at a minimum. This lens features a relatively fast T2.6 maximum aperture and can be stopped down to T22.

Rain or shine, the rugged and durable construction of the IRIX Cine 15mm guarantees that you can keep on working with whatever the weather throws at you. The lens is resistant to rain, sand, and dust, so you can take it for your next adventure in a desert or jungle if your camera can handle those environments. Engraved markings on the lens have been filled with UV-reactive paint, so filming in difficult lighting conditions becomes much easier.

Functionality and Innovation

All IRIX cinema lenses have very similar dimensions and weight, which allows for quick and easy lens changes without the need to change the rest of your setup. The product is equipped with a Magnetic Mounting System (MMS) that lets you connect accessories such as magnetic filters from the Irix Edge lineup or an optional lens hood.

This 15mm has a front filter thread size of 95mm and geared 0.8 MOD rings, which ensures compatibility with most accessories available on the market.

Compact Design

This compact aluminum-magnesium alloy lens has a front external diameter of 95mm to fit most matte boxes and accessories, plus a front Magnetic Mount System (MMS) for rapid filter and hood replacement.

Magnetic Mount System

All IRIX Cine lenses with the Magnetic Mount System are compatible with the separately available IRIX Edge MMS filters and IRIX MMS lens hood. The IRIX Edge magnetic filters have a unique threadless design, so you can be sure that everything stays clean and ready for action. The MMS filters can be stacked together, enabling you to not only freely combine them but to save space when stored. All the IRIX Edge MMS filters are made of hardened optical glass (SR) with a multilayer, antireflective nano-coating that makes them easy to clean.

Would this 11mm be equivalent to a 24mm on ...

Would this 11mm be equivalent to a 24mm on Super35 sensor, specifically the Blackmagic 6K Pro?

Used on the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro (Canon EF) (B&H# BL6KPKCAMP) with its 1.6X crop-sized APS-C sensor, the IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (B&H# IRC15EFI) will render a field of view that is equivalent in its effective focal length to using a 24mm lens on a full frame sensor-equipped camera body. If you instead opt to use the IRIX 11mm T4.3 Cine Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (B&H# IRC11EFI) with that same camera then the field of view in terms of its its effective focal length would be equivalent to using an 18mm lens on a full frame sensor-equipped camera body.

The IRIX 15mm Cine Lens (PL, Feet) has 86mm front filter threads. You can use a step up ring to clamp on a matter box.

What changes and how does the " An adaptive focus ring" adapt from manual to follow focus use?

On the IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens, the focus ring does not change, but rather, it is conducive to both manual use (by hand) and for use with a follow focus (motorized or manual), due to it's ergonomic design, equipped with 0.8 pitch gear teeth.
