Well Built, Heavy, pro glass, pro markings, nice film depth of field and Cinema type look, no focus breathing..for the price is more than expected.

Nice, cost effective cine lens

This Meike lens, considering its price point, appears well made, while its focus and aperture rings operate smoothly and consistently. My only complaint is that it renders somewhat softly, however, there are some cinematic circumstances that are amenable to a lens that is not razor sharp.

Good low cost cine lens

The Meike S35 is a heavy lens that is mechanically pleasing, with smooth aperture and focusing rings. That said, it is not a particularly sharp lens wide open. It does sharpen some when stopped down but it never achieves the sharpness of a good prime, or even a high-end zoom. It does offer nice bokeh and minor flaring. For the price, it is a worthwhile addition for general video.

Great affordable cine lens

I haven't seen this anywhere, but the mft version has painted on marks while the FF version's are etched in. These S35 do in fact also have etched in marks/numbers. That plus the overall build quality and picture quality really make this an amazing lens. Added it to my BMPCC 4K with a Fotodiox Variable ND adapter and it's perfect.

The 50mm is out!

In a class of its own.

As far as affordable S35 cine lenses go, this one is the top dog. Unlike a lot of other popular lenses in its price-range, it has character; not a super-sharp clinical look. It flares nice, and has a great bokeh. HOWEVER: I wish I would have known that Meike has no intention of releasing the other focal lengths anytime soon, which is a major negative. It's pretty absurd to release only one lens of the set and put the rest on the back-burner. So if owning the set is important to you, I would hold off until Meike releases the rest...whenever that may be. Based on that, I would give a 0 star review, but the lens alone is outstanding.

Great price point!

I feel like this is a great lens for the price. Smooth and decently sharp. I would recommend it as a place to start for cinema lenses.

The Meike 35mm T2.1 lens appears well made, with smooth aperture and focusing rings. My only complaint is that it is a tad soft, but for the price I can hardly complain.

When buying this lens, is it a true 35mm, no crop factor?
Asked by: Sheri
This lens is 35mm and will always be a 35mm. It is the size of the sensor that determines the Field of View (FOV) of the image. This lens is meant for Super35 sensors. Since Super35/APS-C sensors are smaller than full frame, it is the sensor that "crops" the any lens's image circle to that size. Since this lens's image circle cannot cover a full frame sensor, its image will always be cropped by a Super35/APS-C sensor. For the record, the image of this 35mm lens on a Super35/APS-C sensor will be equivalent of a 55mm lens on a full frame sensor.

Doesn't the crop factor only apply if using this lens on a FF as these lens were designed to fully cover S35?
Asked by: CHRISTOPHER
The Meike 35mm T2.1 Cine Lens (EF Mount) is a S35 crop lens and would not work correctly with full frame cameras. S35 has a 1.5x crop making the view of this lens would be 52mm on a APS-C or Super 35 sensor camera.
